Over yonder, a wondering prophet.
As we’ve already been over, Mike Skinner – yes, The Streets – is back. Six years on from Original Pirate Material Skinner returns with Everything Is Borrowed, out September 15.
Following on from 2006’s Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living the Birmingham tyke has decided to try to woo your possibly waning attentions by making the debut track from the record, ‘The Escapist’ (video below), available for free from today (DOWNLOAD). It’s an early indication that the guy has really taken the ‘poet’ tag to heart:
The Streets also perform across the UK throughout October:

A track comes for free?
Well - you implied it.
Heard this last night on Channel 4.
It's fucking awful.
The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living
was soooooo gash.
The first two
were utterly fantastic though. This single is far too epic but the lyrics are better than anything on The Hardest Way and i'm probably going to at least download the album off the back of it.

JAG
this is awful
his 1st LP was great such potential, shame he went so shit, seems a bit of a cunt too
I quite like it,
It's got a good groove to it.
As previously mentioned, its quite epic and i like that about it.
It's good to see that he's pushing the boat a bit.
I loved the first two albums, but the last one wasn't as strong, i must say. Judging by this track, I recon this is could be a strong come back! fair play Mike.
Gorgeous
I've heard the sampler from the new album and I think the Dodo track may annoy me but I actually love this track. Obviously his last album didn't come as easily as the first two, but hopefully he is back on track. This is definately not 'GASH'. Lovely. One of my favourite British lyricists.
It's ok.
The music and chorus are tops but the verses aren't brilliant. Loved the first two albums; the last one was OK so I'll probably get it anyway.
good day
darcy 118, I will be calling you for some loving later today.
WOW
He actually sounds great again, lovely stuff. I'm actually looking forward to the new album now.
I wouldn't piss on this guy
if he was on fire. I do like the cassetteboy "tribute" though...
