Exclusive: Wire confirmed as headliners at new London festival
The first ever Offset festival arrives with a bang this summer, organisers confirming that Wire will headline the event in east London.
Taking place in Hainault Forest Country Park, Redbridge – about half an hour from London on the Central Line - Young Knives, Chrome Hoof, Ipso Facto and Make Model will also play the inaugural Offset, alongside over 100 other acts yet to be announced.
Those acts will line-up across seven stages – hosted by the likes of Last.fm and Southend’s fine Experimental Circle Club – set in what’s described as “idyllic woodland, surrounded by lakes, wild deer and even a zoo”.
Like deer? Like zoos? Like influential, innovative art-rock, indie and electro? Early-bird tickets go on sale today, (1st May) priced at £35 (£45 w/camping) for the whole weekend, Saturday the 30th and Sunday the 31st of August.
More news on this promising new event will be with you, via us, soon.

Yeah
and Experimental Circle have impeccable taste. Could be great, could be Jackalope. We'll see...
fantastic!
£35 for a weekend? i paid £10 to watch one of the most godawful bands support These New Puritans last night at 93 Feet East. Started at 8 and it was all finished by 11!
(Puritans were great)
Really cant wait for more of the line up to be revealed, its quite exciting.
and Wire!

i don't think they'll be playing pink flag though. it'll be colin newman painting a ladder and the rest dressed in black and chanting for all of about 2 hours.

Glad to hear positive feedback already. I can assure you that the line up for all the stages will be ones to keep an eye on.
From the Artrocker mailout this week
"I am currently helping organise an August festival for you avid Artrockers and it's a great thrill to include past favourites such as Pere Ubu, Wire, Suicide and The Slits alongside the new scene, and a shame we could not entice the likes of Devo or Gang of 4 to take part. Further details to be announced shortly. www.offsetfestival.co.uk"
This sounds absolutely bloody fucking brilliant.
