Assaulted teenager sues 50 Cent for promoting dumb thuggery

A beat on 14-year-old boy has done what the British media has long dreamed of doing and filed a law suit against 50 Cent, Universal Music Group and several of its subsidiaries for promoting a “gansta lifestlye”.

The teenager – named James Rosemond – was assaulted by four men on a Manhattan sidewalk in March last year, among them Tony Yayo and Lowell Fletcher, the former a member of Fiddy’s G-Unit who employs the latter. The motivation behind the attack?

Rosemond was wearing a T-shirt bearing the logo of Czar Entertainment, a management firm representing exiled G-Unit rapper The Game, reports Reuters.

Now, Rosemond and his mother Cynthia Reed are suing Universal, Interscope Records, G-Unit Records and Shady Records for encouraging their artists to lead violent, criminal lifestyles.

All defendants declined to comment, but Yayo has already been sentenced to community service and Fletcher to nine months in jail for the attack in February.

Oh fuck off

I hope the courts put this kid and his mum in stocks and have the general public throw pies made of mustard at their faces

Yeah! I'm really quite pissed off about this!

It makes me sick! What right do these people have to do this sort of thing! I'm so cross right now!

MEGALOLZ

that is all.

surely before this goes anywhere

its somone's job to tell this lot to piss off? this is a bloody joke.

Theyre fucked anyway

those dudes can afford some serious lawyers.

Yayo is a dickhead anyway, Game FTW.

Nice to see.....

......how DIS readers can miss the mark so badly!

I wonder if you guys were amongst those posting on this forum a couple of weeks ago regarding Sophie Lancaster? - attacked and killed simply for wearing "goth" clothing. Should her boyfriend who survived be put in the stocks for saying her killers were out of line for victimising them based on what they were wearing? Doubt any of you guys are suggesting that....

Surely this amounts to the same thing? this guy was set upon and beaten for wearing a T-shirt which promoted 50 Cent's rival. Damn right they should be held culpable as - whatever anyone says - certain hop hop artists DO glamourise violence and "revenge" attacks. BeenieMan/elephant man etc - nice guys. pillars of the community.

THUG LIFE

think you've missed the mark pal

they're suing the record companies. damn right they should be help culpable? not sure about that

Good point there.

I think its unfair the kid who got beaten up has to have his lame ass name published

and everyone else gets to use their sudonyms. Once again its one rule for the Gangsta Rappers and another for everyone else.

RATED R SUPERSTAR

surely the only fair punishment

is for all involved to be banned from all forms of recording - audio, visual, esp that way everybody wins !

Those bloody gangsta boys...

...I do wish they would play nice.
