DiScover Club this weekend: The Monroe Transfer replaced by Fireworks Night
The Monroe Transfer have been forced to cancel their set at tomorrow’s DiScover Club at London’s Notting Hill Arts Club (April 5) as their drummer Ed is unwell.
A statement from the band reads:
“Apologies for the short notice, but Ed has been taken too ill to be able to play tomorrow - we are saddened, but he’ll be back on playing form very soon. If free gigs are your thing, why not come along to see us at the Big Chill House, near King’s Cross Station, on 20th April? It’ll be a great night, we promise, and equally (if not more) free.”
Opening instead will be London-based purveyors of melancholy-tinged modern folk Fireworks Night (pictured). They’re on stage at 5pm, with Vessels following at 6pm and Broken Records headlining at 7pm.
Find Fireworks Night on MySpace here; we’re liking what we’re hearing. Full details of tomorrow’s DiScover Club as follows:

It was a really special one, this. I can't quite recall the last time we had a DiScover show so brilliantly attended ('sold out', so sorry if you couldn't get in at all), and such a fun time. Thanks a million to the bands, and to all who came down - hopefully you'll join us again on May 24 for Sky Larkin, Let's Wrestle and Dinosaur Pile-Up. Another winner, issit.
