Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz has revealed that he made a failed attempt at suicide a few years back.
Speaking to MTV, the bassist and ‘bankface’ of the multi-platinum selling Illinois quartet revealed that his exit music of choice was the same as was famously used in a montage for the film Shrek.
"I got in my car. I remember I was listening to Jeff Buckley doing Leonard Cohen's ‘Hallelujah’ and sat there and took a bunch of [anxiety pill brand] Ativan in a Best Buy parking lot,” Wentz explained.
“I called up my manager because I was, at that point, completely out of my head with Ativan. And I was talking to him and I was slurring my words, so he called my mom and my mom called me and she came and got me and we went to the hospital."
The incident inspired the track ‘7 Minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen)’ from 2005’s _From Under the Cork Tree longplayer.

Does he want some kind of medal?
Lightweight.
is this not already
common knowledge.
when they first toured the uk he didn't come over. i thought it was because of this.
Is This
an attempt to get in the news i wonder?
He should have just listened to his own music, that would be enough to put my lights out.
His Mom saved him? Rock and Roll.
Apart from ^ I hve no opinion really. Anyone should be able to take their life if they want to.
How about
he reveals a sense of dignity now?
I agree
It's sort of your life to take and all that.
Suicide is never really the best option though.
what is it with this guy
and failing to do anything properly - see his bands attempts at 'rock music'.
Also, if you're gonna top yourself to music, at least do it to something a little less...y'know. Like 'Baby Got Back' or something.
why have i only just noticed
what a rubbish face that man has got?
seriously, it's proper bollocks.
Hmm...
I see Pete Wentz is on his way to becoming the floppy haired Kerry Katona.
Can't wait to be asked if I've read the insane women's mag feature where Pete talks about the hell of dating a Big Brother runner up.
how else would you take your own life?
conflicting statements an arriving modest mouse.
in the word's of charlie brooker..
'what is he? I mean seriously what is THAT?'
Yeah, why not? I suppose it is selfish in the sense that
others will have to deal with the grief and that they might be burdened by your errors, and that might not be right, but we can't someone kill themselves? It is their choice.
I tink my example was more about Ethunasia than just killing your self after a bad few days... though to be honest, writing this has made me see that my opinion might be blurred... :S
Failure
Failed suicide attempt? Maybe he should try again.
ppplease god
as a special easter present let him be on MTV moaning about paternity pants
He did it to Hallelujah.
Cliched way to go.
I agree with LastAstronaut...
If at first you don't succeed, try again, please, for your own sake, stop making such bad music, do us all a favour as well as yourself.
this story is so old
it's not even funny.
It's the equivalent of listening to The Fast Food Rockers
as you order a large Big Mac Meal with Coke.
which is why
you're commenting on an article about the lead singer.
because
you were secretly attracted to him all this time? I don't know, but please do tell.
oh dear,
and they all come crawling out.
when it said music from shrek
i instantly thought of this
^ this
.
Old.
...
he's the bassist
and I'm a fan
i knew he was the bassist
but forgot he was the back-up vocalist. my point still stands though.
