New LCD Soundsystem material included on movie soundtrack
James Murphy has contributed a fresh LCD Soundsystem track to the OST of a new film.
‘Big Ideas’ features on the soundtrack to 21, along with cuts from MGMT, Rihanna, Kasabian, the Duke Spirit’s Liela Moss and Peter, Bjorn and John. If one of those boys leaves do they have to change their name?
Who knows – what we do know is that the OST to 21 will be released through Columbia Records on March 18th (US). The film itself will arrive in cinemas on the 20th of March.
Here’s the full OST tracklisting:
Rolling Stones - ‘You Can't Always Get What You Want’ (Soulwax Remix)
MGMT - ‘Time to Pretend’
LCD Soundsystem - ‘Big Ideas’
D Sardy featuring Liela Moss - ‘Giant’
Amon Tobin - ‘Always’
Peter Bjorn and John - ‘Young Folks’
Junkie XL featuring Electrocute - ‘Mad Pursuit’
Get Shakes - ‘Sister Self Doubt’
The Aliens - ‘I Am Unknown’
Rihanna - ‘Shut Up And Drive’
Knivez Out - ‘Alright’
Domino - ‘Tropical Moonlight’
UNKLE - ‘Hold My Hand’
Mark Ronson featuring Kasabian - ‘LSF (Lost Souls Forever) ’
Broadcast - ‘Tender Buttons’
The film itself has no discernible links to the music world, being as it is about a gaggle of M.I.T. University students who decide to ‘do’ Vegas out of bundles of cash. Still, students like music, right? And this music as brand identifier thing worked pretty well for Juno.

Is this film
acknowledging the Ben Mezrich book (Bringing Down the House) as an influence? If not, it certainly sounds like it should be
Sounds like a crap film
like some idiot channel 4 'youff' programme along the lines of the OC or some other nonsense.
Wouldn't mind checking out the new LCD though, he never lets you down.
A quick wikipaedo search
suggests that yes, this is an adaptation of the book I was referring to
Great book
Should make for a pretty damn good film adaptation. I'm sure Hollywood'll find a way to c0ck things up though.
I like
that book
The LCD track is…
