Final ten for Shortlist prize confirmed
The ten finalists for this year’s Shortlist Music Prize have been announced.
The seventh annual award, which can potentially go to any album released in the US in the last twelve months that hasn’t attained half a million-selling, ‘gold’ status, will be presented to one of the following acts in February:
Feist - The Reminder
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Stars - In Our Bedroom After the War
Burial - Untrue
Working for a Nuclear Free City - Businessmen & Ghosts
Justice - Cross
M.I.A. - Kala
Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
Wilco - Sky Blue Sky
A host of well-known ‘listmakers’ – including Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody and Ronnie Vannucci of the Killers – decided on the ten records to graduate from the 54-album Long List announced just before Christmas.
Last year’s winner was Cat Power for her effort The Greatest.

Small point
Gold status in the US is 500,000, not a million.
small point
it says "half a million" or they've fiddled with it! I'm surprised Arcade Fire, Spoon and Wilco fit into. You read the US press and these bands seem massive...!
who are...
Working for a Nuclear Free City??
Incredibly predictable list
Just saying
Very
Isn't it? When I saw the shortlist I thought this could be interesting.
I thought Feist would have sold more, so I checked and as of Jan 8th the record has gone gold with 506,575 sales according to Billboard. I demand she's evicted.
Why not?
It's an excellent album.
Working For...
...A Nuclear Free City I mean
They are...
Some band from Manchester I think. Don't know how they got on this list.
Maybe
because the album is superb?
