C.R.A.Z.E.E.? Justice to headline massive Madison Square Garden show
Parisian electro-duo take on New York enormodome.
This just in via the (once) popular medium of MySpace bulletin...
"Justice will be touring the United States in March of 2008. They're playing at Madison Square Garden on March 11th and you've got the opportunity to book your ticket now before the general public. You’ll need a password to get your tickets – the password is edbanger. Fathers, look after your daughters, Justice is back in town!"
Get yer tickets here. Reportedly it will be Chromeo, Busy P. and Fancy joining the black leather-clad twosome. And maybe this lot...
So what the crunk is going on? The band have apparently only sold 40,000 albums in America, yet play the same huge New York venue as the Spice Girls, Rolling Stones, Matchbox 20 and Springsteen. Maybe this won't sell out and is mental in a it-will-never-sell-out-kinda-way as some music biz types are already fearing but take a step back and count the MySpace friends (myspace.com/etjusticepourtous), the Hype Machine popularity (hypem.com/popular) and last.fm plays (last.fm/music/Justice). If it does sell out it would seem further proof that the 'record' industry is in trouble and the old measures and gauges for how big/significant a band are, are seriously warped.
And whilst we're geeking out your browser tabs with statty links, have a look how quickly Facebook has caught up with MySpace here.
Ahead of this huge New York date, Justice play the following UK tour:
February 2008
7th Manchester Academy 2
8th Middlesbrough The Empire
9th Sheffield The Plug
13th Nottingham Rock City
14th London Astoria
15th Oxford Carling Academy
17th Bristol Carling Academy
DiScuss: WIll they sell it out? Is it a bit mental doing a show this big with only a couple of hits? Anyone know the cheapest way to get to New York? Anyone use MySpace anymore?

So they are actually playing MSG?
It's just I'm sure there's a very similarly venue right next door that has a smaller (3000) or something capacity.
I remember wandering what the hell Bloc Party & Panic At The Disco were doing playing 'MSG' before I realised.
Although, out of sheer boredom I did have a look on the MSG site, and they are there. Alongside Spice Girls and such.
Weird.
yah
i thought the same at first. i imagine myspace might give away some tickets.
pwa
suuuuuuuuuuch legends man..
They're playing in Bristol in February
I can, like, walk to see Justice. I must get round to booking this soon.
Come on Sean
Since when did social networking stats really equate to ticket sales/album sales etc. ok, it may do in some cases, but with Justice? I'm not so sure.
Justice are a band that will attract any number of flippant and fickle fans that will just add them as friends or whatever the equivolent is on each site in my opinion.
I don't think this will sell out and I'll tell you what; if it does I shall come to the next DiS London event in a stupid outfit of your choice.
That Alexa site is fascinating
Of the big music sites I could think of straight away, (DiS, Pitch, NME, Metacritic, AMG) AMG creams the others!
Metacritic is up there with Pitchfork & NME, and DiS is gaining slowly. Nice blip in September 2006 guys. Keep it up!
facebook still
doesnt really have a good music section does it? myspace is always gonna rule for music. anyone else not interested in music doesnt use it as far as i know
This article
has made me aware they're coming to oxford. yessssssss
Thing is
they're not *that* great live. And that's coming from a man who's been crazy about Justice since waaaaay back when
the burning question
will they sell out the middlesbrough empire?
also they are rubbish djs too.
well, at least the technical side of it. They can't seem to get their heads around the idea of beat-matching and seem pretty oblivious to what exactly a crossfader is.
They write good dance music though, and that is the main thing.
they're not really
your average dj's though are they? the way they drop samples in and out and sequence their shit is unbelievably complex. crossfadeing one song into another is very dated. i will be slightly surprised if they sell it out though. i didn't think the americans 'got it'.
MSG Has
2 Different parts to it
It has the WaMu Theater and the Garden.
The garden is probably the one you are all familiar with, its a 17,000 capacity.
The WaMu Theater however is where Bloc Party played, and it holds around 4,000. I would imagine that Justice are playing here.
I went to see Muse in the Garden last summer and it was amazing.
I thought that
but like some says up there^ it's the main MSG arena (check the MSG website).
Good luck to them, but I reckon regardless of the amount of MySpace promotion they're going to struggle.
good luck to them indeed
i cant believe they would get 17000, plus the sound they create wouldnt suit sucha a big venue in my view, but then again i guess it could be brilliant. last time i saw them they were far too quiet so they best not make that mistake again!
im suprised they have only sold 40,000 albums in the u.s. but im sure that that only accounts for a very small percentage of the people who actually have it.
they are getting better at dj'n but they dont technically dj at their live shows, and they have done so many recently they ought to be getting really good at them. i look forward to oxford!
justiceee
okay i will admit that MSG is a very big venue and they would potentially have trouble filling it but i think many people would be surprised.
i went to one of their concerts a couple of months ago and it was AMAZING! i was shocked by how many people showed up and by the fact that they attract so many different "types" of people. Putting aside differences, everyone was there for a common reason...to D.A.N.C.E. non-stop, have a great time n party hard.
i can guarantee that anybody who attends that show will be blown away !
They've...
got a lot better recently, to the point that they're actually quite good, technically. I've hear recordings from mid 2006, though, and it's pretty grim.
this
is very good news. indeed.
That's b****cks
They're mind-blowingly good live. I've seen them doing two major support slots recently (for the Chemical Brothers and for Klaxons), and both times, the Frenchmen stole the show.
The Essential Mix they did...
for Radio 1 last summer was an ace house party type set. All over the bleedin' place. Yeah they can't mix for toffee but who cares. It's about the choons, izit...
?
has this changed from C.R.A.Z.Y to C.R.A.Z.E.E?
