RIP: Blood Brothers split
- Artists:
- The Blood Brothers »
When Blood Brothers announced their take on the ‘indefinite hiatus‘ last month things looked more than ominous. Now, they’ve loaded both barrels, taken one last look around and shot themselves full in the face.
“THANK YOU AND GOODBYE,” starts the MySpace suicide note, “Dear Friends,” it continues:
“After 10 years of making music as The Blood Brothers, we have made the collective decision that our time together has come to an end. We feel extremely fortunate to have spent such a deeply memorable and amazing part of our lives with each other. At this point, however, we feel it's best that our futures move forward on separate paths.
“We'd like to express our sincerest thanks and gratitude to all the bands we've played with, individuals who have helped us make our records, and fans who have come to our shows and picked up our music throughout the years. Your friendship, support and love hold such a profoundly special place in each of our hearts. We hope that the memories you attach to our music are as fond as those you have given us. Thank you and take care, we'll miss all of you.
“Love,
The Blood Brothers”
The act’s last studio effort came in the shape of last year’s Young Machetes - click here to read the review through sheets of tears.

Oh
Fuck. I really wanted to see them live.
Really upsetting news
Jaguar Love show some promise...Still, so so so so gutted.
RIP
...
[throws street party]
Shit.
Shit.
...
(rains on parade)
fucking fuckers
I had tickets to see them for the first time this year, just so happened to be the only cancelled date on that tour, and now I'll never get to see them
:(
Damn...
But I feel they have gone out on a high instead of spluttering into oblivion somewhere.
I hate how
I only like bands who have either
a) become shit
b) split
c) or are about to split up
The new bands to come out of this better be good
liars
i'm a sucka
Good
They were shit, worse than Enter Shikari.
that's a shame
saw them live only once and thought they were a bit shit but it's a shame.
.
rovv'd
Weeping
I actually weeping into my tea whilst sitting in the dark listening to Burn, Piano Island, Burn.
Blood Brothers shall now be added to the list of bands, that to my friends who have not heard/care for them, I only bring up in conversation to be obscure and cool.
Not
as gutted as I thought I was. I mean I could be a cunt here and say that Young Machete was pretty much a Johnny solo album, so I'm sorta unsurprised, really.
Still...fucking sucks.

BIG FUCKING LOLGASM RIGHT THERE
Shitters
They were one of those bands where i made the mistake of saying, "ahhh i'll see them on thier next tour".
Tits.
So that's it then
Fuck.
I got to see them live, so at least I can say that, but...
Damn, I love pretty much everything they've done. This is pretty bloody depressing. At least they're quitting while (I think) they were still making great albums.
No doubt some hardcore scenester idiot will come on here and tell me they sold out on BPIB, so I'll just give them a premepmtive fuck off.
Sad day.
Those
are some of the most offensive artist ratings I've ever seen.
He could mean Embrace
As in the short lived Ian MacKaye band from the mid 80s.
But even then: face it man, you were never going to like The Blood Brothers!
I love Young Machetes
and, in fairness, he was writing most of those wonderful lyrics.
This is a tragedy
of ATD-I proportions, almost.
Bummer
I too am a fucking fool who never went to see 'em live.
wo.
easy now.
.
Thats a quite worrying reunited list.
Mostly for the fact that in contains no ATDI or Botch.
and in fairness
there's two vocalists and two lyricists. Jordan's stuff is equally and if not better than Johnny's stuff. The magic of the band was that they'd work so well together, almost as if it's a conversation or two sides to a personality. Young Machetes was the complete opposite and Jordan mostly reduced to backing vox.
Whatever...
