Morning Runner split

Reading’s Morning Runner have shuffled from music’s mortal coil.
Making an announcement via the band's MySpace, the recently-dropped Coldplay-ish indie quartet had spent the past year writing a follow-up to their 2006 debut, Wilderness Is Paradise Now. An excerpt of said message reads thusly:
“The first record was obviously a relative commercial failure and heaped pressure on us to have a follow up hit record (the nature of being signed to a major record label). We decided to try and ignore this and write the songs that we wanted and move our music on which we did succeed in doing. However having been encouraged by the label to go away and experiment with what we were doing they made a u turn and decided that the music wasn’t commercially viable and that they didn’t want to put it out.
This wasn’t really a surprise and was understandable from their point being a corporation. We had a couple of days apart to think through what we wanted to do next. When we came to sit down and talk about stuff Tom and Fields came to the decision that they’d had enough. This wasn’t what Matt and Ali wanted particularly but obviously they respect their decision and came to the agreement that with the loss of Tom and Fields they should call it a day.”
“Matt and Ali will probably go on to do other things in music so will hopefully see you again soon.”
So there.

I didn't really rate them at all
but I admire the frankness of that statement.
I reluctantly saw them live
at the Charlotte in Leicester.
They announced it was the best gig they've ever done.
If there was anytime in the history of life on earth where you knew were absolutely positive someone was lying, it was then.
RESULT!
Crosses off "Morning Runner" off of list and the pen then hovers over "Atlete", "Coldplay" and "Embace".
Hmm, who next?
...
Longview ?
Haven ?
Leaves ?
...
Lonview?
Haven?
Leaes?
you were at that as well eh.
I was engaged in picking tape off the wonky barrier well before the second song
LO
L
Is that the one
where Polytechnic were supporting.
Anyway, a bit of a lesson here for bands wanting to sign to a major - they won't let you do what you want!
AHAHA.
yes it was, that was the reason we went
Slaytor dragged me along cos his friends cousin is in Polytechnic or something, ended up having to pay a ridiculous amount of money to watch that tosh headline.
Polytechnic were alright though. Apart from before the gig they looked a bit pretentious with their 'wine' and 'scarves' and 'haircuts'.
who?
.
Speaking of Longview...
... I'm sure at least a couple of months have passed since 'Further' was last re-released again. What's going on?
this band could have been ok
they made a huge mistake signing to major. the first time i saw them they were quite dark and soulful - there was nothing 'anthemic' about them. then their debut came out which was basically the first ep, the singles and b sides put onto one disc. saw them again and they were so shit i left.
i was there
they werent bad
no one
wants to re-re-re-re-re-re-remix the song again apparently...
what's wrong with leaves?
apart from their second album, that is
Poly
are great! Glad they're still going and MR aren't :)
Did I say something was wrong
with Leaves ?
There's nothing wrong with Leaves
The second album was awesome, a real progression in the bands sound. Nowt wrong with Longview either! And Morning Runner were brilliant, I'll sorely miss them.
Who?
Well, they were no Bennet
excellent
excellent usage of a Spaced quote. Keep it up.
You can't drink a pint of Bovril!
I kinda liked them
but not really, i was more "meh" but they were from my home town, so i made an effort. They were fucking shit at TITP the other year, and took the piss out of the English. Its not like its not tough enough being English at TITP, without a band from your hometown giving you greif too. Cunts.
Longview are alright, the album has its uses, and can provide ample background music. Lets just say i'd rather listen to that, or Lowgold, or John Mayer when i'm getting busy than fucking Maroon fucking five and not bother stopping to change the CD so listening to it over and over. Jesus, i am bitter about that, its a bit sadistic i suppose.
Haven were good, i loved Pushing the Senses or whatever it was called. Whatever happened to Thirteen Senses, their debut had promise and Thru the Glass and Into the Fire were good songs.
Thriteen Senses had a second album this year
and are apparently already starting to release a third...
how do you
"start to release" an album?
they were back in the studio
last time I heard about them...
and that was supposed to be
start to record...
I should stop posting when I'm tired.
Meaning I should stop posting...
