Lee Ryan from rising boyband Blue has issued a grovelling apology for comments he made regarding the Sep 11 terrorist attacks. He was quoted in today's (Oct 26) The Sun 'newspaper' as saying:
"Who gives a fuck about New York when elephants are being killed? They are ignoring animals that are more important. Animals need saving and that's more important. This New York thing is being blown out of proportion."
Naturally this little naïve outburst, which will haunt him for years to come, has done nothing to dispel the general view that boyband members are not the most intelligent of people. Ryan's bandmates and record label were unhappy with his comments, so he has issued an apology on the group's website. "I'm not good with words and I get mixed up," he explains.
If you're interested, Blue are due to release a typically insipid ballad which sounds like a rip off of Take That's 'Back For Good'. The profits of the single will now be donated to the Twin Towers Fund for victims of the attack.
NME.com reports that Ryan's future in the group is currently uncertain. Oo-er!
