Distophia: no more for yer

The worst headline ever can't mask the hard fact of this matter: Birmingham's Distophia - ever so good, y'know - have called it quits.
The four-piece's long-awaited debut album, Beat Dyslexia, never actually founds its way to release. Do we blame the label in question? We could, but let us not wag guilt-sniffing fingers at this juncture. Here's a MySpace bulletin thing:
Unfortunately we have decided to call it day.
Thanks to all the people who've helped us out along the way.
We just couldn't hold on any longer.
We will try and sort out an online shop for those of you who still want Beat Dyslexia.
We will have a new band at some point in the future but Distophia is now officially over.
And that, as I'm about to conclude, is that. I interviewed Distophia once. They were nice. I saw one of them throw up once, too. That, not so nice. MySpace page here.

sad news
i suppose the label still owns the rights to the recordings too. So we may never hear beat dyslexia unless the band shell out for their own work
this is very strange
especially as i got sent out three new tracks, liek, last week.
but then the lineup just changed, so maybe they're just going to change their name to reflect this..
a great shame
Soda Lake is one of the most underrated (mini) LPs of recent years and i'm pretty certain Beat Dyslexia was due to trump it. Good luck to them.
sob...
:(
Bus-t up
I used to see one of them on the top deck of the 50 bus EVERY day.
yeah it's really good
really slick production, some of the layered guitar sounds awesome. Sags a bit towards the end, but if they had had an extra year to record some better ones to replace the slightly less good songs rather than recording it and it never coming out, then it would easily have been one of the best albums of recent years. A big shame. Best of luck to them in the new band!
:(
Sad news indeed, they were a fantastic band.
Ahhh the days of going to the Flapper & Firkin to see them play!
Adios,
Matt
Ach min...
Feels like the end of an era...
But could be the start of another one?
'member that song 'Joanne'?
I liked that. The video was on MTV2, they were playing in the back of a lorry or something.
arse
supported them a couple of times - not much fun to talk to but good to watch.
Hope the "new" album comes out at some point still...
Fuck shit fuck
I hate their label. :(
Weren't they on the same label or something as Hard Fi
Did they have more pressing priorities?
Of course!
i've just listened to it at stupidly loud volume for the first time in ages. i remember hearing it for the first time - was it Peelie? - and i thought, blimey, that chorus is so big they're going to have to reinforce the stage at gigs.
sad
news
oh, shame
I'm sure their new band will be ace though.
quite simply
this band not being massive is the biggest fuck up in recent british musical history.
i'd heard they were going to split for a while as other projects had taken on more momentum.
still, i guess we have a new hard-fi album instead to listen too...
Bad day for the scene...
Really truely gutted about this.
The album was going to be the highlight of my summe is 2012!
Seriously though, a great and sad loss tothe scene, no one could make noise like they could in Full Swing!
