Blow Patrol: Snow-man in court on cocaine rap
- Artists:
- Snow Patrol »
Snow Patrol keyboardist Tom Simpson will appear in court at the end of the month on charges of being a filthy druggy sicko.
It's alleged that Simpson and an associate were caught in possession of cocaine in Glasgow last summer - and arrested again last weekend after performing at Live Earth.
A warrant was put out following his absence from a previous court hearing.
Simpson also shares a name with a legendary British cyclist who 'rode himself to death' on stage 13 of the 1967 Tour de France. What did the post-mortem reveal? A fatal mixture of alcohol and amphetamines. Is this not warning enough, Simpson? Sort it out.

Argh
hrm
according to the sleevenotes of my copy of "Songs For Polarbears", Snow Patrol don't have a keyboardist. therefore, logically, you cannot arrest a non-existent man, so i don't believe this article.
he wasn't officially part of the band
until about the time of final straw, always on tour with them though and he used to do decks & keyboards stuff when they had fun songs like PPP & Get Balsamic Vinegar... etc.
anyway it must be true, it was in the metro yesterday.
He went
To my high school apparently!
And Christian Dailly (West Ham defender) went to my primary school and was mates with my brother.
Mmmm, connections...
best
article
ever
That's not Tom in the picture
It's ex-bassist Mark McClelland, that's an older photo before Tom joined. Y'know, just so Mark's not getting accused of anything...
*historically incorrect
Tom has always been a member of Snow Patrol, since at latest the tour for "When It's All Over...", hence pre-dating this photograph.
N.B. potentially embarrassing knowledge.
potentially
but not really, when considering that "When It's All Over..." is an amazingly good album. From there to Eyes Open in two albums...*sniff*
and not forgetting
snow patrol played atp in 2000 too...
oh, and while i'm on it
Tom Simpson didn't die because of alcohol and amphetamines per say, it was hyperthermia (heatstroke) which the brandy and amphetamines had masked the symptoms of, because he wanted to complete the tour.
i know this isn't a sports site, but here's a guardian article, from today, about Tom Simpson:

the one thats chorus goes "its not me that you love, its not me that you looove"
DRUGGIES
I read an NME article in 2005 when the headlined King Tuts at TITP and Gary spoke of all the boozing and drug taking that went on in the band, like falling of scaffolding whilst pretending to be spiderman whilst on some kind of trip leading to them pulling out of some gigs a few years before that
olive grove
beautiful song. As is One Night Is Not Enough
will they
cover 'informer'?
Is snow patrol a drug reference?
Should they now be called just simple 'patrol'to avoid influencing people who read the band name who may then go on to take drugs?
Will nobody think of the children!!
indeed
imagine the uproar if it happened today!
hmm, not that you could tell
but that was in reply to "oh, how times change".
glad it's not too long a thread, it's very hard to see what these replies are actually in reply to otherwise!
i agree
songs for polar bears is excellent.
