Following on from their rapturously received set on the DiS stage at The Camden Crawl last month, O.E.L.M head proceedings with their heady dose of cabaret indie, with ringleader and centrepiece Frederick Blood-Royale the Baptist/Les/Bangs falling neatly between a delirium-induced Jarvis Cocker and Eddie Argos with a throat infection. Born out the ashes of London troubadours Les Incompetents, these absurd Marmite-flavoured gentlemen are one of this year's must-see acts.

Incorporating the gothic sullenness of Nick Cave with the irate sneer of The Jesus and Mary Chain, Birmingham-based Australian five-piece The Scare play this showcase to promote their new single ‘Bats! Bats! Bats!’. Acquiring plaudits from various notable figures across the board, lead singer Kiss Reid is a sight to behold: a lust-ridden madman, not shy of the odd pelvic-thrust and primitive wail.

Applying intricate call-and-response guitars with the detached yelps of an unhinged frontman, Bloc Party are an obvious point of reference. However, embedded under the Sheffield four-piece’s standard post-punk influences, their brand of art-punk contains subtleties you would usually associate with Minus The Bear.
