No more Order: Manchester pop legends split

Manchester pop outfit New Order have broken up, according to bass player Peter Hook.

Hook told Xfm that the band's time is up, adding that singer Bernard Sumner and he aren't working together any more. Hook will now work with Perry Farrell on the Jane's Addiction man's new Satellite Party project.

Hook said:

"I spoke to Perry, and he asked me to play bass, as he'd heard about New Order splitting up. Well yeah, me and Bernard aren't working together. Bernard went off for a break with Electronic, but that was different. But it's like the boy who cried wolf this time."

Is it? In what way? Oh Hooky, you mental old bass-lugging wide-legged man, you.

bf

shamen't

I just spoke to Mike on the phone!

OMGZZZ!

aah well

good innings.

it's a shame that

went to watch them a couple of years ago and they played a full Joy Division set which was fucking ace (especially Atmosphere and Warsaw), but still a bit gutted i won't get to get loaded and go and watch a full New Order set. Guess they were a bit too old for all lhat now anyway, and the last album was pretty pap. Ta Ta then......

and by lhat, i meant

that

about fifteen years late

jesus christ

theyre shit and all now, but i thought theyd ALWAYS be there

I really don't care

New Order have never really done anything for me.

no

great loss. it's been downhill all the way since 'Power Corruption and Lies'

A great shame

One of the great legends of 80s electro-pop. Blue Monday and True Faith are among their legacies. Siren's Call was a bit of mess but Get Ready had some great songs.

i'd say it's the end of an era

but they've not done anything much cop since "Republic", apart from the single "Crystal". still, here's hoping at least them splitting up gives people the idea to go and revisit all their fantastic 80s singles.

I thought

That they were the worst band at Glastonbury a couple of years back. Good innings and all that though

I'm suprised...

to learn they're all still alive.

one of the best bands ever.

end of story.

as much

as I've always loved their early output, thank fucking god.

At fucking last.

They were the best band in Britain for about a decade from "Temptation" to "Regret". Everything after that is shit.

...

first larrikin love, now new order

my life is falling apart

They 'split up' all the time.

Hooky & Barney are like old women who are always arguing. On my (very rough) count this takes it to double figures the amount of times one of them has said this in an interview.

Give it 18 months they'll be back.

Now, Rev....

....you're making me cry.

NO were ace/are useless

Ten years to late

saw them at glasto in 2005 and they were awful fairdos. Peter Hook is a dick.

Sorry, but good.

They were a fucking embarassment.

"Luuuurve, luuurve will tear us apart, again/COMEAWWWWWWN!"

Fuck off, you sad, fat, wheezy, awful, geriatric midget.

Oh yeah

I forgot you're not aloud to have fun with one of your best songs. Its better to have an Ian Curtis intensity fit and pray to him whenever we hear that song.

Ian Curtis was a twit who couldn't sing and spoiled the band's music.

boring

good riddance

^HILARIOUSLY WRONG^

"Ian Curtis? Yes, he was a TWIT. And a GAYLORD to boot."

Well, alright, he was a bit of a misery guts. Rather him than Bernard Blubberhands, though.

and not a day too soon

all the critics who slayed waiting for thesirens call were such hypocrite cunts..

they were probably listening shite klaxons or the kooks demos which nobody will remember in 2 years time. stop bashing them, go and read history, respect. closing track of "sirens call" ? great lost single.

and "get ready" wasnt shit.

at all.
