Popular Portland trio The Gossip are to perform for free in London on March 5.
The band - fronted by Beth Ditto, a favourite of DiS's own Kev Kharas - will play at the capital's Oxford Street HMV at 6pm. Why? 'Standing In The Way Of Control' needs a little extra milking. Pity the poor cow that's raised it: she must be dry as a bone by now.
The re-re-release of said single, currently doing the E4 rounds on trailers for not-bad-actually teen drama Skins, can be yours from Monday. If you don't already have it. A million times.

they were showing the ad
for Skins on a massive screen at the Palais last night, over and over again. it made me feel a bit sick.
I think they're great
and they have quite a lot of songs as they've been around for years.
Is this going to be one of those queue up at 8.30 am outside HMV and feel like a 12 year old waiting to get Harry Potter while everyone going to work looks at you like you're mental?

That is annoying though in a way, cause it means you'd have to get there really early to get in and I can't get off work til 5.30. In a way I would prefer to get up early, get it done then chill all day knowing we'd get in. Would like to go though, as Astoria night I have to work.

this band deserve all the success they can get. they have toured like crazy for 5 years putting on the greatest live shows of recent times and have got consistant albums with fun rockin' tunes. Go beth and nathan you sexy cool bastards!

that these guys have brought an element of old skool riot grrl to the mianstream, if they didn't get some kind of negative response i'd be amazed..
but i'm also sure that most of this negative reponse comes from people who don't bother with previous under exposed and under rated albums which are posibly better.
Plus she's a fat dyke, how much of a positive response can she and the band expect from such a homophobic scene.. and don't go saying that ain't one of yr reaons cuz i won't believe you..
