Bloc Parties: band queues up Summer festivals

Bloc Party have confirmed themselves for three of this Summer's major UK festivals.
Speaking to 6Music, Gordon Moakes revealed that the band would be playing fields in Berkshire, Somerset and Perth and Kinross when the sun returns:
“I don't know which ones have been announced from which ones haven't, but I know we're playing T In The Park. I think we're playing Reading Festival, and Glastonbury, so I think we'll be ever-present over the summer.”
Will they shoot confetti out of cannons again? Who knows. What we do know is that someone has been shooting coins at lead singer Kele Okereke. Someone in Aberdeen. Tut and, indeed, tut.
"Somebody threw a coin and it kind of threw Kele's concentration more than anything else, because he was in the middle of a song," Moakes said of the band's recent gig at the silver city's Music Hall.
"When we got through to the end of it, I said, 'Do you want to go off stage?' So we came off, and I think we were all a bit shaken by the whole thing."
We're listening to Malcolm Middleton in the office. He's well Scottish. He also just said "Ah, Autumn you fucking cunt / Keep bringing me memories that I dinnae want". Och Kele dinnae wun thet coyn throon en hes fess noo neether laddeh!
Oh, how I've missed writing news.

hmmm
are all festivals this year going to have the same line up? they all seem to have the same bands all rumoured to be headlining for example the killers at v, glastonbury and carling, seems like they are all morphing into each other.
A coin?
They left the stage because someone threw a fucking coin?? Jesus.
Did it even hit him?
Unsuprisingly as weak as their tracks then.
...
May I throw a coin at you EJamesB ?
Course you can.
And whats more I won't sulk about it either.
Shall we say a two quid?
Do you know how much damage a coin can make...
...you stupid cunt?
Yes
Bearing in mind it was probably being thrown upwards (I take it they were on a stage at a large venue) and that it probably wasn't a large coin then hardly any at all!
Thing is, as I have asked - did it even hit him? or was he just "distracted" by it?
I've seen bands pelted with far worse than that and just laugh it off, its ridicolous to claim that someone throwing a coin is enough to disrupt a gig - especially one on this scale.
So there is your answer, cunt!
yes it did hit him.
and if for example a two pound coin was thrown at you when you were onstage, it would bloodby hurt and would distract you a fair bit. "It probably wasn't a large coin"? Do you have any basis for this ignorant remark?
Twat.
How are you sure it hit him?
And if you, in all seriousness, were going to throw a coin at a band - waste £2?
The IQ level of these responses must be from people who find Kele's lyrics "cutting edge".
Also:
He was probably still a bit thrown from the fact he got smacked in the head really hard with a full cup of beer at the Barrowlands the night before, which to be fair to him he handled really well.
Drinks are bad enough, the stage was damn near flooded, but coins are really dangerous, as they're easy to throw really hard, if they hit you in the face you could lose a tooth or an eye or something.
What is with people paying to see bands and then flinging stuff at them? I don't understand it at all and if they walk of it's entirely the fault of people flinging stuff.

Oops
That was me. I dunno what happened there...
Ach
I think perhaps I am being a little harsh here maybe but storming off at gigs is a real vibe killer for the audience.
It just seems a bit petulant and rude.
too fuckin right
what a ponce,if i was him id get the spot guy to hunt him out in the crowd then id wade in swinging my axe, start a full scale rock n roll riot and maybe gain a bit more kudos instead of being a soft snivelling student
the best reaction is to
yell at/humiliate/make fun of the guy throwing shit, if you've seen who it was. but not everyone is disposed to aggressive confrontation and i would guess kele okereke is one of those people. it's not on anyway, and to imply that having coins thrown at them is something bands just have to ignore is just fucking stupid. they are perfectly justified going off stage, it may not be the best course of action for the gig as a whole but different people are different people. we're not all thick vacant cunts like liam gallagher who can just stand there swaggering like a moron being pelted with all sorts of shit because the gig is a drunken shambles anyway
...
rock 'n' roll riot involving an "axe" sounds good though.
Plop Party
I really like Bloc party, I have all their albums and singles...etc and I love them... Who am I? I'm an idiot!
Petulant and rude?
Like throwing a fucking coin, you mean?
I saw some twat chuck a full pint at a Fun Lovin Criminals gig a few years back. Hit Huey square on the forehead and fucked up the gig for everyone else.
Let's get this right - the band aren't killing any 'vibe' by being pissed off at stuff being chucked at them. It's the twat who's doing the throwing that's ruining it!
Or is that one of your favourite pastimes as well as spending your time commenting on bands you don't like? Go get a job thats not in McDonalds.....
SHOCK PARTY!!!
their new album is the worst i have heard in a long time, no helicopter or banquet!!
