Troubles - featuring former members of Hope Of The States - are on tour this month.
The band hit Leeds' Brudenell Social tomorrow night. Not literally, of course: I imagine they will limit their in-Leeds activities to drinking a few beers and playing a show. That, and some sacrificing of virgins.
February
15 Leeds Brudenell Social
16 Newcastle Northumbria University
17 Lincoln Bivouac
18 Portsmouth The Cellars
19 Manchester Star And Garter
20 Edinburgh Henrys
21 Glasgow Barfly

The band will have their self-titled double album available for sale at the shows, as well as the new 'Sen'Taur' EP. Check Troubles out on MySpace, here.

Speaking of the South...
Which you haven't. But you jolted my mind with the Troubles info and Portsmouth date.
Are you going to do a news item on the strange death of the tuneful pyramids centre?
Seeing how I've all ready given you a title, I'll continue to say that if I was a contributor I'd probably write a short and snappy piece first addressing the local council's decision that the centre will close (possibly as early as October), how they have decided they can't justify £1.6 million on the renovation of a building less then twenty years old that is still used by two hundred thousand people and how it looks likely the building will be redeveloped as a hotel and conference centre in the future.
Then I would reference the number of venues closing in England in recent times, highlighting the plight of those in the south.
Then I would probably throw in a witty quip about how it was also announced today that local councils are spending £29.5 million on training pub and venue staff to recognise and fine people smoking in preparation for July 1st's total ban. Then question the logic of doing so in such a way as to provoke discussion about whether gig goers need bar-cops protecting them from second hand smoke or places to see bands. Either that or ask if people could care less that the rusting hulk is going when Portsmouth still has the Guildhall and Wedgewood Rooms.
