Funeral For A Friend ready LP three, release track and ask you to make video. Pikeys...

Welsh hardcore quintet Funeral For A Friend are readying their return with their third album.

Entitled Tales Don't Tell Themselves, the LP is currently being mixed by Dave Bascombe (Depeche Mode, Manic Street Preachers and Placebo) in readiness for a May release.

Speaking non-exclusively to DiS, the band said:

We originally got Dave to do a mix of our first single from the record and we were so blown away we asked him to mix the whole record. And, with Dave being British, it pretty makes for a 100 per cent British album process (the whole record was written here, recorded here, produced and engineered by Brits and now mixed by a Brit), which is something we're really proud of”.

Reports suggest the LP sounds pretty fucking heavy, actually.

You can also hear a track yourselves. Go to this site. The band have also offered a chance for you to make an accompanying video. And you can win stuff. Go to their MySpace page to check it out. It’s in the blog section. The MySpace link.

DiS is listening to Casually Dressed And Deep In Conversation now. It’s great. “You’re nothing more… than a line in my book”. WORD.

The last album was so gash

I'd almost forgotten they'd existed. Reckon they might pull a deftones on me and come out all super heavy?!

The first album was ace-o though...

and I've enjoyed them when I've seen them live...just call me emo:(

I'm hoping they recover with this one, can't see it happening though:(

that

quotes a bit racist

funeral for a bigot more like

Hours

was pretty terrible. The first album was great though. God, I remember being obsessed with this band at one point.

Same here like.

But yes. Hours was totally gash.

I liked the Hours

and Casually dressed, they were both pretty fucking good

And the new song sounds great as well

Racist? Hardly

The last album was quite Americanised and most of the writing, recording, production was done in the US so maybe on this one they've decided to go back to Britain, because that's what they are, British. There's nothing racist in being proud of your heritage.

I still have a soft spot for Funeral For A Friend. I hope they do go back to a heavier sound on the next album

Hmm I read an interview

saying it wasn't gonna be that heavy?

Hours was dire. Not one song as good as anything from 'Casually Dressed'...which I used to love!

I hated hours

I would never have heard it, but I had to sing/play drums for the song History for a mate's recording at college. What a shame, I wanted to remember FFAF as an amazing band with an amazing debut album.

The same thing happened with Lostprophets actually. AMAZING first album, shit after that.

Let's hope this new album's good.

How disparingly...

Boring. Why cant they just do a Fall Out Boy? That would make everyone happy.

This is a smart move on their part

I've always thought these guys had too weak a drummer to pull off frantic hardcore type songs with conviction, they always sounded really forced and contrived to me (and unhealthily based around one guitarist, who seems to be a lot more technically proficient than the rest of them) but I can see the big anthemic alt.rock thing working for them; that type of song seems to sit on their shoulders more comfortably.

Do a fall out boy?

You mean become shit, self important arrogant wankers who write wanky "pop" songs that make absolutely no sense

Why would they do that? that certainly wouldn't make me happy

thanks...

dad.
