sweet
i'm going to the charlotte if theres any tickets left from when i get home, it's leicester.... should be.
I might have missed somehting
but as far as I could tell the only thing wheich ever made the cribs sell any records was the NME constantly saying other bands liked them.
I certainly don't
Dire
Awful live act who can't play or sing for toffee. Plus they are such a bunch of cunts in any interviews I have ever seen with them
no sheffield?
or manchester? or cardiff?
must try harder Mr. promoter. I ain't going to Leeds.
Balderdash
The most misunderstood band in Britain?
If they were American their most likely port of call would have been Sub Pop and we'd be rejoicing in their music, but alas they're from Yorkshire and suddenly championed by the Kaiser Chiefs.
So suddenly they're the dregs of the UK music scene, apparently tarnished by association and misinterpretation.
Yet in their music I find intelligent indie at its charming best (the first album's still an absolute joy), wonderful melody, crafty almost cocky musicianship, and you can dance like a divvy to them.
Frankly, what's not to like?
Having seen them at the Brudenell a few years ago, at a Gojonnygogogogo festival, I can't wait until Glasgow.
The Cribs have not made it easy
The first album has one great song and they were utter shit live in those days
then they got even drunker but were sporadically very good live
then the second album seemd to only have about 4 good songs
until they'd toured it for 6 months
at which point
they had become one of the best live bands in the country
best. live. bands.
anyone at the Astoria show last Feb will tetse fly to this
alas theyu records were not sexily enuff produced to be on the radio
so you lot languish in ignorance.
The reason so many (quite often BAD) bands like them is that they have seen them play abroad, where UK bands are oftne on a more level plain, and they know
that
the CRIBS are the UK's best Indie Pop BAbd.
And Damn Right they'd be on Sub Pop if they were from Milwaukee
As it is Warners have sgined them in the US for one bajillion dollars
because
they know what you do not
Andy Wallace is gonna mix them up the Pop Record of the year.
So
whatever condiments you take with your words, unbelievers, stock the fuck up.
