Cat Power fans: "harbringers of dark magick"

The people behind Cat Power's MySpace site - located right here and frustratingly only featuring one song - have called the singer's fans "harbringers of dark magick" in a bulletin.

The bulletin, sent to remind/inform fans of Cat Power's recernt nomination for a Brit Award (click here to read about DiS's time at the launch), reads as follows:

That's right, peoples. Cat Power has been nominated for a BRIT Award in the Best International Female category. For our US readers, the BRIT awards are kinda like the UK version of the Grammys. Traditionally the domain of millions-selling pop stars, Cat Power has manged to get onto the nomination list by... well, we're not sure. We're not in the habit of assuming that artists deserving awards might actually get them. We're dumbfounded, in fact, given her competition.

She's up against: Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Pink and Nelly Furtado.

Surely it can't be that industry bigwigs have finally realised that they should give awards to, y'know, really great artists? I mean, what are the chances of that? The only explanation I can think of is voodoo. Practised by members of the Cat Power bulletin board. We salute you, harbringers of dark magick. Well played.

Yes, well played you freakin' witches. Now get OUT of my mind...

Hmmmm....

'The Greatest' isn't actually THAT good. I would say its one of her weakest albums.

bf

only really checked out her last album cos of all the hype

Style over content.

and this must

be a seriously slow news day.

.

my friend writes to replies for wayne rooney's myspace

the last one was shit

but what the does bf mean??

retards

Harbringer isn't a word, presumably they were thinking of Harbinger, but it is not just a fancy old word for Bringer...

nope

any excuse for bigging up Chan Marshall.

bf

spelling Magic with a K on the end annoys me also. Pretentious. Its like when teenaged girls change the spelling of their name to make themselves sound more interesting

...

i thought the greatest was really good.

slacker

Asiding maybe Xtina, i'd class all of those people as 'really great artists'.

Harbringer

harbringer (har-bring-er) [Folk ety. of harbinger.] One that provides advance notice of things to come. A harbringer of doom.

http://www.langmaker.com/db/Eng_harbringer.htm

You're

wrong then.

that's what Harbinger means

Just because some trying too hard website starts describing typos as neologisms doesn't make it so.

as langmaker say of themselves "Please don't mistake this site for being an accurate dictionary; by design, it's not"

The word has the same route as Harbour, the extra R is a mistake.

try Websters;
Harbinger \Har"bin*ger\, n. [OE. herbergeour, OF. herbergeor one
who provides lodging, fr. herbergier to provide lodging, F.
h['e]berger, OF. herberge lodging, inn, F. auberge; of German
origin. See Harbor.]
1. One who provides lodgings; especially, the officer of the
English royal household who formerly preceded the court
when traveling, to provide and prepare lodgings. --Fuller.

2. A forerunner; a precursor; a messenger.

I knew by these harbingers who were coming.
--Landor.
Harbinger \Har"bin*ger\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Harbingered; p.
pr. & vb. n. Harbingering.]
To usher in; to be a harbinger of. ``Thus did the star of
religious freedom harbinger the day.'' --Bancroft.

whoops, see, people make mistakes but i have not just coined a new meaning for "route".

I just think that if you go out of your way to use difficult or obscure words you should make sure you get it right.

How so?

Performers are great artists regardless of whether they wrote the songs or not. Beyonce, Pink and Nelly Furtado have all released shit hot pop songs in the last year and hence i'd view them as such. i'd even say they were more interesting than 'The Greatest' was.

I don't care

whether they wrote the songs or not.

They're still all about as interesting as beige wallpaper.

Pink?

Nelly Furtado?
Are you sure?

breastfuck

duh.
