Indie Label Special Part 2: Fierce Panda enters teenage years with big party. All invited...

I used to work for a record label y’know. A hot little indie label in North London. However, they ejected me because I kept supplying demos from odious little punk rockers. True story. On a completely different note…

Independent label lovely Fierce Panda is this spring celebrating thirteen years of existence. As you probably know, this is the label who have brought us (amongst 150-odd others) head-rearing tracks by Keane, Placebo, Coldplay, Bright Eyes, Green Day, Art Brut, Idlewild, Kenickie and… oh God, so many others.

To celebrate this raucous remit of a decade-plus of gig ravaged livers, the Panda are having a birthday party.

At the Electrowerkz, Angel, on February 23rd, you can go purvey Shitdisco, Xerox Teens and Bolt Action Five. Three Good Bands. Oh, and selection of lovely DJs like Daughters Of Kaos, Baseball Furies and The Cleft Palettes.

In addition to this, DiS is both supporting and representing (media partners, we call it in this new-fandangled age of technology). And we’ll be presenting you with a quite intriguing and hugely enjoyable label feature with the Panda in the coming weeks. Trust us, inside the brain of Panda founder Simon Williams’ brain are a whole lot of doors you should never open.

That information again in easily-digestible format:

fierce panda presents: SHITDISCO + XEROX TEENS + BOLT ACTION FIVE + DJs Daughters Of Kaos + Baseball Furies + The Cleft Palettes.

The Place: LONDON ELECTROWERKZ (7 Torrens Street, Islington, London EC1V 1NQ. 020 7837 6419)

The Date: FRIDAY FEBRUARY 23RD 2007

In related news, Shitdisco are going to releasing their debut LP, 'Kingdom Of Fear', on April 16th. On Fierce Panda, funnily enough…

they

ejected you? how dare they. which label was it? i'll make sure i never speak to them again.

sadly FP

didn't release anyhting very good since 5 years apart from the Apartment
Bands like Absent Kid or Make good your escape are good but a bit formulaic indie rock...

Do Xerox Teens ever see their grannies?

Because they seem to be playing somewhere in London every day.

Xerox Teens

are playing for us in Bournemouth and Southampton in a few weeks. I cannot wait.

"inside the brain of Panda founder Simon Williams’ brain"

Sounds nightmarishly complicated...

Define independent

...aren't FP part of EMI?

i've seen in that brain's brain...

there is an endless series of ever tinier brains

with
right at the hub

a blinding light
a 20 Silk Cut (unopened)
a pint of really cold beer
and a bottle of Merlot,
and a rabbitcostume

no.
