Ladyfest Grrrlies Tour
Ladyfest, Strange Fruit and Kill Rock Stars present the imaginatively titled Ladyfest Tour.
The Ladyfest Tour is to take place after the Ladyfest Festival which is at Glasgow's 13th Note between the 12th-14th August. The Glaswegian event includes the likes of Electrelane, Bis, Bangs and Life Without Buildings. The idea behind Ladyfest is to showcase and encourage the artistic, organizational and political talents of women. This participatory festival will feature performances by bands, spoken word artists, authors, visual artists and filmmakers and will include workshops, panel discussions and other activities.
The lineup for the tour features Bangs, Sarah Dougher, The Gossip, The Lollies and Strange Fruit DJs and will hit the following venues:
August
15th – Manchester, The Roadhouse
16th – Sheffield ,The Casbah
17th – Hull, The Adelphi
18th – London, The Spitz
20th – Cambridge , The Portland Arms
21st – Oxford, The Point
22nd – Brighton, The Komedia
23rd – Bath, Purr Club, Moles
The doors to all the dates open at 8pm and entry costs £5.
To celebrate the tour, Strange Fruit will be helping to release a strictly limited edition tour-only 7" EP. Put together by Irene (of Strange Fruit) and friends, this was the first opportunity, for a proper release for their label Youth Club Tape Club, already involved with musical soirees in London and Oxford, recording in their bedrooms, and even setting up a truly independent online radio station (Oxford Free Radio). An honour to release a record of their idols, there will be 500 copies, each with home-constructed sleeves, featuring one track from each band on the Ladyfest Tour. With exclusive contributions from both Sarah Dougher and The Lollies, Strange Fruit has already received phone calls asking for copies before the record has even been pressed.
