Idlewild: Tour, seven-inch and limited edition download

Having sold out all of the dates on their current (starts tonight actually) tour of intimate venues, Idlewild are also releasing a limited-edition (750 copies) one-sided seven-inch-only single featuring forthcoming album track, 'If It Takes You Home'.

If you weren't lucky enough to get a ticket, and therefore miss out on the single (available at the shows), don't despair too much: the track will be available as a free download for the duration of the tour from the band's website, HERE.

The band are then expected to release a chart-eligible single early in the new year, followed by their sixth album Make Another World, which is said to herald a return to their rockier sound of yesteryear.

Those sold-out dates are as follows:

November
28 Dundee Fat Sams
29 Sheffield The Plug
30 Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms

December
1 Bristol Fleece
2 Manchester Academy 3
4 London Scala

who is

supporting?

wow

i saw them at the wedge on the i'm a message tour.

Fortune Drive

A Bristol band and pretty good friends of mine.

they're also playing

at Celtic Connections next year

whats the new stuff sounding like?

any chance of a return to a drunken roddy stumbling around screaming into his mic?

oh dear

i dont rate fortune drive. not one bit. later train in to bristol it is then

Please pack it in

Should've called it a day after 'You held the world' single. Everything else has descended to being as bland and MOR as REM. I weap now when I hear how good chandelier was.

nothing like

keeping an open mind, eh?

...

Thankfully they havn't heeded your advice, I loved the last two albums, and am looking forward to this one.

So, when you register

What happens?

Do they send you a link to download from or something?

Thats bullshit because...

...that would rule out El Capitan, which is beautiful, despite me buying Queen Of The Troubled Teens back in the day, they remain awesome, if awesome in a different way.

I'm with you

Fortune Drive bored the hell out of me three times in the past year. Is it me or do you always get a band per year that you're destined to see at every gig you go to?

Well

I thought that's what happened but I haven't been sent anything.

But

this new song is rocking again.

heard the new album

yesterday...

wasn't especially impressed

but in fairness, i've not been much of a fan since 100 broken...

did anyone read the NME review where Beaumont gave Warnings/Promises 9/10 and said each Idlewild album had been getting progressively BETTER... thus immediately prompting God to place Ricky Gervais on the earth so that the catchphrase "is ee avin a laff?" could be born.

mind you... that's the same reviewer who gave Kid A 1/5 in Melody Maker

bob = idlewild guid, no bob = idlewild bad

They’ve been crap since bob left he was the energy in the band. since he left they seem to be heading into the dark woods of coldplay!

Good point

The chaos of Fairfoul is missed...

thirded

i got into them late but was lucky enough to catch them twice with Bob before he left.

They were my favourite band for a couple of years but have been a perpetual disappointment post-100 Broken Windows.

Meh.

last night

in dundee they were excellent

new songs sound really good especially one called " ghost... " or somthing about a ghost

very much back to 100 broken windows era sound i thought... as someone who has been into idlewild since 99 and have loved all the diiferent stages they've been through .. (yep even love warning and promises) i can say that anyone who likes this band will not be dissapointed

ciao for now

cs009d4735

i want a ticket to the london gig.

does anyone have a spare one?

i still haven't got that free download, and now the site is down.

but you can hear 'if it takes you home' on their myspace-
www.myspace.com/idlewild

sounds pretty good. a fair bit like 'a modern way of letting go' off T.R.P.

THEY OPENED

with the new single last night

it's good but not brilliant

much preferred some of the other new tracks they played

and the support act fortune drive are a definite "hit the bar, quick!" kind of band

cs

They were great

last night in Sheffield. A good spread of songs - I kind of knew it was going to be a good set when they opened with a song from 100 Broken Windows. The new ones were mostly great, as well.

Likewise.

I filled in my details and just got a "thank you" and the same form to fill in again. No email, no nothing!

They've lied to us.

fortune drive
