Chin-Chiller: Chris quits Art Brut

They may have formed a band but now one of the original members of Art Brut has walked.

The following is the press release from the Art Brut website which has apparently been approved by both the band and Chris:

"Chris Chinchilla, Art Brut's rhythm guitarist of two years has elected to leave the band citing personal issues. His departure from the group is amicable. He will be replaced with Jasper Future. Jasper will make his first appearance onstage this Saturday 10th September for Art Brut's performance at Bestival on the Isle Of Wight.

"The band are saddened by Chris' decison to leave but respect it and look forward to playing with new recruit Jasper. Anyone wishing to stay in touch with Chris can keep tabs on his movements through his website www.chinchilla-music.co.uk"

yes! it was absoultely brilliant. It's actually one of my stupidly geeky life missions to somehow obtain a copy of that 7".

If anyone by an bizarre coincedence has it on MP3 could they email it to me please!

I reckon he's done the right thing in leaving. Chinchy Winchy was the only thing entertaining about Art Brut. Let's hope he joins a slightly more credible band now and shows us what he really can do.

there isn't a statement on his site.

i spoke to him briefly today and he seemed to be fairly chirpy. just needs a break from music to sort his head out...

do a search for 'art goblins' in the box at the top and there's a review of their rhythm factory gig and a pic of jasper.

i don't believe the tour is in any jeopardy...

I saw Art Brut play with Jaspar (and a stand in drummer) at Bestival. He's pretty cute. Perhaps Eddie A is going to gradually replace all members of AB with cuties a la Oasis.

just an aside - the new Art Brut video 'Good weekend' features the backing singer Sophie Traves as the 'Brand new girlfriend' in question - she is lovely and sings in alt-folkie's Moses who never get any mention anywhere but are great so I thought I'd mention them here.

Do a DiS search on them and follow the links - I think you'll like them, nothing like the Brut mind you...
