Feeder to split?

Feeder frontman and pink All Star-wearing fella Grant Nicholas told reporters at the weekend's PS2 Weekender that the band's upcoming album will be their last.

The singer promptly retracted said statement, sort of, by saying "Oops, I've messed up there". DiS has heard no official statement from either band or their label Echo, so for now treat this as a rumour.

That said, should the band now call it a day? The last album, Pushing The Senses, really wasn't all that, was it? 'Buck Rogers' was shit, too.

Feeder to split?

The last album was terrible. THeyre past their best...and they really should split up. Just to keep any respectibility they may still have.

Feeder to split?

Yes! 2005 keeps getting better and better.

Feeder to split?

oh well.
please fade to obscurity.

Feeder to split?

I'm this bothered

*Holds finger and thumb in the air, roughly half an inch apart*

Re: Feeder to split?

Woohoo!!!!

Best news i've heard all day.

Will they buy houses in Devon though?

Feeder to split?

Please, please to goodness, let this be true. Keep mediocrity off of our streets and stereos

Re: Feeder to split?

Theyre not on my stereo...

Feeder to split?

i thought the last album was pretty good.
bitter glass was a fantastic tune.

agreed, none of it was totally original (what is these days), but is a pretty solid album.

never liked them really before that album.
especially buck rogers *shudder*

Feeder to split?

grant looks well old there.

Feeder to split?

you look well old there

Feeder to split?

Upcoming album? Didn't they only release one about six months ago?

Re: Feeder to split?

He is really old :P

Re: Feeder to split?

the only thing ive liked of theirs has bin buck rogers.

Re: Feeder to split?

He's got a bit of a George Bush smirk going on there.

Feeder to split?

Feeder have become more and more irrelevant as time went by, I genuinely hope we have heard the last from them. There is only so much soft rock one band can plug before they become the British Bon-Jovi, and to be truthful we don't have room for one Bon-Jovi in the first place.

Feeder to split?

They used to be so, so good, before they went soft. Anyone remember the tour with My Vitriol as support? That was hella good.

Re: Feeder to split?

My Vitriol! Those were the days...

Feeder to split?

The new Feeder tune rocks. Anyone heard it?It's called Shatter.

Re: Feeder to split?

Yeah its on GT4!!

Re: Feeder to split?

There is a God.

Feeder to split?

I used to love this band. I mean, all the Buck Rogersy stuff was great when I was about 12. They had like... 3 class albums. I used to find Comfort in Sound great too. Now I don't hate it, but I find the earlier stuff awful.

The thing is, I understanded they had to make a sad album grieving Lee, but they should have got over it by 2005. But no, yet another melancholy, boring bunch of songs with lyrics worse than Jamelia.

They should call it a day, and Grant Nicholas should do a solo album... covering UB 40.

Feeder to split?

pleasepleasepleaseplease.

Feeder to split?

I still like them

Feeder to split?

i would like to still like them, but it is true they are now a pile of poo, should have quit after the release of polythene in hindsight

Feeder to split?

It all started going downhilla bout Buck Rogers. I think they should have retired when Lee topped himself.

Feeder to split?

'swim' was pretty good. comfort in sound was hella unsubtle though - 'feel we're going down, 6 feet below the ground.' or was it 10 feet? curiouser and curiouser.

Feeder to split?

Does anyone here actuall like music? It seems to me you all dance to the fiddle of what D.I.S writers and other arrogant music *journalists* say.

Feeder have made fantastic music, such as the whole yesterday went to soon album (or is on one over the age of 13 here, thus too young) and are probably still capible. If they want to then let them, they have earned their musical stripes!

No one makes you buy there albums

Feeder to split?

See I didn't even know they were still going, I guess on the last album they reverted to dog whistle status...

Feeder to split?

New "heavier and more upbeat" album in 2006, touring and promo in 2007, when they're almost 40...I can live with that.

New single Shatter is a tune.

Re: Feeder to split?

Yes I went to that! and I met som in the baras bar, awesome. Back in the day!

Re: Feeder to split?

no, none of us like music. that's why we post regularly on a music website.

Re: Feeder to split?

I went to that. IT WAS POO! Utah Saints DJ Set? POO!

Feeder to split?

'humour' has ruined DiS

it's like the fucking NME!

Feeder to split?

they should never have formed, brain dead dogshit, they are.

Feeder to split?

Feeder were great live and I'm guessing they might still be. Those last two albums, though...

Feeder to split?

i cant believe what some of the people on this terrible site think, feeder have been producing great music for years and they always wanna try something different on each album. asol feeder and one hell of a band live. i would like to see what some of the people on here listen to

Feeder to split?

They hadn't do it yet !

I'm shocked.

Feeder to split?

"pink All Star-wearing fella"

Jesus Christ. Pure Smash Hits writing style. Is that all we deserve?

Describing that single as "shit" is pure lack of vocabulary too.

I despair sometimes.

Feeder to split?

I've said it before and I'll say it again...hearing 20 thou Scots singing their hearts out to Buck Rogers at the T In The Park after John Lee (who I knew) topped himself was one of the most powerfully pathos ridden moments I've ever had at a gig, made me cry, though from the above parentheses it is apparent I'm hardly objective. Comfort In Sound was pretty heart rending for the same reason. Overall though, I always found them master craftsmen rather than artists.... but then as KP's article about by-numbers bands covered...isn't that what nearly all the 'top' bands are these days???

I think they should have brought the album out where they dealt with John Lee's death, their 'Back In Black', if you will, and then perhaps tried something new, rather than continue with Feeder. Mark Richardson's a good drummer, but not as idiosyncratic as the guy he replaced.... a three piece is SO defined by the style of it's three members that any line-up change is pretty much a fundamental overhaul.

Re: Feeder to split?

Have they? They should release some of it one day.

Re: Feeder to split?

'i would like to see what some of the people on here listen to'

Click on some people's profiles then. People are hardly secretive about it. And for the record, Feeder really aren't as good as they used to be. And to be honest, they weren't that great in the first place. Now that the songs have slowed down (or 'matured' if you must), Grant's shoddy lyrics stand out more than ever.

Re: Feeder to split?

Whoops, beaten me to it, Caviarandcigarettes. You evil genius. : p

Feeder to split?

Feeder have always been mediocre ...their first album was their best since then they have become a lession in why MOR indie pop is banal.

Feeder to split?

Boo hoo.

Feeder to split?

Mr Squeders has a point. Half the news stories on this site just descend into continuous slagging off of any band that's managed to flog a few records. I wouldn't mind, but when the criticism rarely goes into any other depth than "they're shit" then interesting reading it does not make. Come on, even Feeder are more articulate than some of the above posts!

Re: Feeder to split?

But they are unequivocally shit.
