Sir Elton broke Blue, claims singer

Ex-Blue boy turned would-be solo artist Simon Webbe has said that the boyband's demise was sparked by comments made by none other than Sir Elton of John.
The sparkly-specced fan of blue eyes and yellow bricks collaborated with the Guilty quartet on the song 'Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word'. Webbe (pictured), now looking to follow former bandmate and serial foot-in-mouther Lee Ryan into the charts, had this to say about Elton:
"We decided to [break up] because Sir Elton told us: 'You have a certain amount of longevity in the business. If you keep releasing pop albums as Blue you'll go stale.'
"His comments made sense. He's a legend with almost 40 years in the business. I realised it would be best to take time out."
Time out, yes. Enough time? Perhaps not. See you on the pop scrapheap, Webbe.

Blue? "Poo" more like.
Re: Sir Elton broke Blue, claims singer
i see what you've done there.
Re: Sir Elton broke Blue, claims singer
Clever wasn't it?
You can do it with anyone that rhymes with "Poo". Or you can use "Wee" if they rhyme with that.

Hey! Well done Elton! I see how this works now... if we can get Elton to tell bands we don't care for to split, they'll do it. I wonder if he was responsible for Toploader's demise too? If so, I'm going to buy Elton's entire back catalogue on principle.

Blue rock. They had a wikkid stage show. Better than Kylie's even. When would you ever see Mogwai or ILikeTrains come on stage climbing down a huge cargo net covering the entirety of the Wembley stage, eh?

I would LOVE to see Mogwai do that!!!

Is Elton talking from personal experience there? Has he actually started releasing music under the name of "the Scissor Sisters"?

I love Blue.
They were the subject of my wanking circa the age 14, 15.
They better not have broken up.

Haha! It makes me laugh when girls say wanking when talking about themselves

how about a duel to the death to resolve the matter? with the winner being executed by firing squad for murder. that seems fair.
Re: Sir Elton broke Blue, claims singer
we should sooo start a petition for mogwai to do it.
in fact, mogwai should adopt more boyband conventions. imagine, at the climax of new paths to helicon part 1, they got up off those barber chairs. that would be awesome.

Wow! Me too! Why is that? Maybe because it conjures up certain inherently amusing images.

The theme tune to Gladiators ran through my head as I read this.
Not the whole thing because I can't remember all of that shit - just tha "It's the GLADIATOOOOORRRSS!!" part.

I quite like Simon Webbe's new song. And the lightbulb mic stand he had on CD:UK was pretty fucking cool.
Incidentally, does anyone know what song he's sampled? I'm sure I've heard it before but I can't quite place it. Hmmmm...

I dunno nuthin about Webbe, but surely this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
GYBR was a pretty good record, other than that Sir Elton has built a career on lamo wigs and wanky bland pop songs. Goes to show you guys will give any old plumber a knighthood. (Kudos to Bowie for turning it down.)

One of the best things to come out of Elt's mouth in thirty years...oh yeah that and the shouts of PIG PIGS! at some airport snappers.

Simon? tiresome, more like.

I think Elton should look in the mirror and tell himself to quit.

Simon could try the Elton method of staying fresh and get himself sampled on a track by a long-dead rapper.

I like Blue WAY more than Mogwai and iLIKETRAINS
