After producing one of last year's/this year's (depending on which release you procured) finest records 'Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone', two-thirds of Canada's The Unicorns have formed a brand new project.
Called Islands and described as 'F-14 tomcat blah, blah', Nicholas Diamonds and J'aime Tambour produce something that sounds like a pop equivalent of shining a devil with a can of WD40. It's mad, fun, firey and interesting. We've also been lucky enough to find a couple of tracks for you to listen to, thanks to our friends at The Simple Mission which is a great little music blog. So check out:
DiScuss: What do you think of these tracks? Do you miss The Unicorns? Who is cutting your hair now that they're gone?

The Unicorns become Islands
yay! i miss the unicorns. i saw my hairdresser twice in two days, both at completely different places, none of which was a hairdressing place. i didn't talk to her because i thought she might shout at me for ruining her lovely haircut.
Re: The Unicorns become Islands
i quite fancy my hairdresser
The Unicorns become Islands
the tracks are interesting and are growing on me (though it's fairly corns-ish fare) but i miss alden. no one rocked out while looking like a 14 year old boy like him..
his solo stuff is great though. death-folk!

yeh alden released a 2 track single in australia earlier in the year (100 copies) but it may still be available on the alien8 website. otherwise mp3s are floating around. he also recorded a radio session in canada with 4 or 5 new tracks.
th corn gangg played a show in LA and also SXSW and there are some recordings of them (poor quality). quite a few unicorns tracks are being used that werent used on the albums or eps including abominable snowman. they sound pretty strange, but yknow, its interesting.
