Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

So you drink Carling? Goodie for you - at least that way when you taste a real beer it'll feel like being reborn, or something. But please, sort your lugholes out and switch them on to some NEW and EXCITING music, eh?

You - yes, you, Mr Carling, have voted Robbie Williams the best live solo artist in, like, the world. To add insult to injury, you've also picked U2 as the best live band. Forgive us for calling you a pleb but, well, you're a pleb.

The survey by Carling polled 5,000 'music fans'. Williams beat off (heh) competition from David Bowie and - excuse me while I puke into my own lap - Paul Weller. Also in the top ten for live solo performers were Jimi Hendrix (um, dead?) and Madonna. On the live band front, The Who, the Rolling Stones and Coldplay ranked highly.

A man from Carling said: "It's great to see that current bands like Oasis can sit comfortably alongside rock greats like The Who and Rolling Stones".

Alongside the live poll, the beer also asked people for their favourite albums and singles of all time, leading to the standard The Stone Roses, Definitely Maybe and Nevermind responses for the former, and 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', 'Imagine' and 'Love Wil... Apa... Ag...'... zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

what did you expect? mainstream, innit

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor

The Stone Roses is my favourite album...

And I drink Carling...

*cries*

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

"Williams beat off (heh).."

Hah, I choked on my lunch reading that.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as y

I drink Carling.
But you rehash press releases for your news stories.
Which is worse?

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as y

Um, where else do you think most news comes from?
The stuff in your paper?
The items on the television?

You think journalists MAKE news?

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as y

Don't shit on 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'. That truly is the greatest single of all time. Up there 'Come Out 2Nite' by Kenickie. Superb.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

You think journalists MAKE news?

yes. not music journalists as much tho.

will this turn into a 'whats an indie kids favourite booze topic?
yes
okay

either Vodka straight or Fosters. Maybe double amaretto and coke if i want something that has a nice taste

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

JD and Red Bull. And a Carlsberg.

AND I like U2. So shoot me.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

The greatest beer in the world (that I have tasted so far) is Hoegaarden. And I'm sure I've spelled that wrong.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

I bet you've never even seen U2 live.

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

Ok that came out wrong. I didn't mean you sir, I meant the writer of this article.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

Carling is piss and I hate going to their frigid, soulless venues.

What a shitty list of performers, why did they bother? We've all known for years that Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix and so on are great - Mr Carling's opinion is worthless and changes nothing.

And, frankly, Oasis haven't been a 'current band' for years - they're deadder than Keith Moon.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

Carling, whilst not the best beer in the world, is relatively cheap
So it'll continue to be liberally poured down my throat, ta very much

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

"AND I like U2. So shoot me"

Don't tempt me

xx

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

I wouldn't pay £100 or whatever it costs to see U2.

The Stone Roses reformed maybe, but definitely not U2

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

ah, but can you say it [properly]?

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as y

No, they report news. Hand outs shoudln't account for everything.

If, as you imply, this is not worth reporting, then why bother? After all, it's hardly news that people like Robbie Williams is it.

If Carling drinkers (/Sun readers) voted Elliot Smith best live act, that WOULD be news. Cos he's dead.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

I think San Miguel, Nastro Azzuro and Kovice need to start taking an interest in the UK music scene...

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

i cant believe nobody has mentioned Stella.

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor

Michael Diver.
Thank you.
That is the funniest post ever.

I know where most news comes from.
I am a journalist.
You (and the other news 'writers) are not journalists.
My editor would never let me rehash press releases or copy other websites, without speaking directly to the people involved.
I speak to the folk making the news.
And I investigate to discover news that is not being 'released'.

You could learn from some of these points.
It would improve this website.

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

most wifebeaters aren't computer literate

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor

I'm pleased to have provided you with a little after-lunch merriment.

'Tho I, too, am a journalist, trained and everything.
But I only have a few minutes per day to add stories to DiS.
So if something reads a little recycled (which this isn't, by the way - only the hard facts are taken from any press release), please do forgive me that.

Dare I ask what you're a journalist on? A paper? A magazine? The radio? I've worked in the national and local press, so hopefully I'm not being looked down upon by someone who's still chasing up stories about grannies being pestered by hoodie-ed 14-year-olds on a council estate in Bromsgrove.

Being investigative is something to be proud of, and believe me when I say that if I had the time and resources to do so myself the DiS news section would be running exclusives every single day. I have contacts enough to ensure that we got the gossip before anywhere else (NME, Playlouder). But I don't have the time. So it doesn't. Apologies there, sir.

But anyway, glad to be of some amusing service on an otherwise dull afternoon back at the 9-5 grind after a prolonged weekend of booze and sunshine.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

When all you mindless lager drinkers grow up you'll realize that bitter is where its at. Gimme a pint of John Smiths over a carling any day.

And i bet Mr.Smith has better music taste...

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor

bitter is awful. it's so bland that you barely notice you're drinking it. (I'm basing this entirely on John Smith's and Bodd's, I'm sure there are some better bitters out there, but these two are poor). 80/- (is that the symbol for shilling?), now THAT's a drink...

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor

yes, cos fosters doesnt taste like stale dried up piss at all. if you want good beer, go out and buy some fucking beer, not some crappy lager shite. Good beer is stuff thats made by smaller decent breweries like Black Sheep, Timothy Taylor, Marsdens, Fullers, Thwaites et al.

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor

Noted.

It would be great if you did have the time (and the resources) to be able to chase up original stories. That would make DiS an even greater read.

One day I imagine you will find your deep throat and be the woodward of the online music world.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

Incidentally, if you had a stage at Reading rather than Wireless, would you be running this article?

:-)

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor

SHEPHEARD NEAME!!!!!!

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

I hear sheepshagger is quite a nice pint. Although personally I don't drink any kind of fermented hop based drink as they all make me blow up like a giant tinkerballoon. And then i can't dance as well.

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor

how could i forget, indeed - Spitfire is an awesome pint, consider me chastised

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

The average person drinks Carling and buys the Crazy Frog single.

Fuck them.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as y

Got to be Tiger Beer for me. Unfortunately its £2 a bottle evrywhere I go so go with Fosters or Carlsberg instead. Carling's only redeeming feature is that is usually cheaper than everything else.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

The answer is take your own beer. The nice man behind the bar won't mind if you explain politely that they don't stock your particular brand of choice...so you've brought your own. He'll love it.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

Mmm, John Smiths is my classic choice. Or anything along those lines... Worthingtons, Tetleys, Bass (often at gigs), Boddingtons, London Pride etc.

I had some carling again the other night at one of their stunning venues... it really isn't very nice! Cheap though, so fair play to them!

Oh, and i've slept with Robbie Williams.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

Hendrix transcends time and space, so he is always killer to listen to while chugging brew or blowin Krypto. Bowie is awesome always and The Who rips it. Don't forget Zep, Doors, Quuen and Floyd for best live bands from back inthe day. All this new rock sucks, except a few bands like Velvet Revolver, Black Crowes, and Quuens of the Stone Age. Me 2 cents.

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor

Timothy Taylor, nuts in.

Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

if you so want to rate beers why don't you go down to the local pub and write BORING reviews on beer instead of wasting yours and everyone elses time on these crappy news reports! Have you seen either Robbie Williams or U2 live!! well if you havent they rock!! their alot better than the shite stuff people listen to this day and age. is heavy metal even music. all they do is scream the lyrics!! jesus if your got that much anger about the world go and shoot yourself or do something about it!! i loved the part at the end of your article where you wrote zzzzzzzzz. nice touch to a boring article (not the music involved--more the way the article was written) why not try a good brand of beer anyway. i always see people drinking a decent brand called Vic Bitter!! oh, wait you might not like that because it's not shite!!!

Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...

"their alot better than the shite stuff people listen to this day and age."

oh dear. please go away.
