Warlocks go into Surgery for new LP

I remember waking up one day, stumbling downstairs on a Monday morning and opening my frontroom to find a pair of members of The Warlocks in my frontroom. This is a true story. It also wasn't a pretty sight. There they were, clad in those supertight black legging/jeans things sprawled on the floor. How The Warlocks ended up in Dalston? Your guess is as good as mine....

Anyway, JC, Corey, Bobby and co. are back with a second LP, to be released on the 22nd August. It's called 'Surgery' and is apparently informed by the works of Phil Spector - Shangri-Las, Ronettes etc. Recorded in sunny Californian, frontman Bobby Hecksher said: ā€œThe aim was to create some new rock n’ roll hybrid: sonic space-age doo-wop! I wanted the album to sound bigger, fuller, sicker than beforeā€.

That's largely the gossip, folks...

I bought their last album for £2.99 from MVC and fell asleep on the first listen - no joke.

Good God, they've practically got more members than people who've rated them.

"Sonic space age doo-wop" ! Sounds great. It could be from Anton Newcombe of BJM.

I like the Warlocks, but I rate Dead Meadow better.

Who are the Warlocks? Are they important?

It's not that they break the newest ground, but they do write great songs. The Phoenix was one of my favorite albums of 2003.
