Music industry sensations, Be Your Own PET are to release their second EP, 'Fire Department', on Rough Trade records in June.
The Nashville pubescents, who caused rather a cheque-book fondling stir at this year's SXSW fest and on their brief UK trip shortly after, released their debut 'Damn Damn Leash' single on XL Records in March.
Since then, everyone's got hot and sweaty and who knows who's going to stump up the rumoured half a million bucks to pick them up for LPs? Not bad for being the new YeahYeahStripesStrokes.
These words above are obviously scurrilous gossip. No one knows if anyone's going to offer then $500,000, but hey, it's fun to speculate.
They're a good band, by the way. The EP's out on June 20th.

I was very jealous when I heard these 16 and 17 year olds were in a signed band. My envy subsided when I discovered how crap they are. A similar thign happened with the Subways too.

I saw them at the Metro a while ago, they were fun. The singer gave me a copy of Deception Point by Dan Brown, and a hairdryer to someone else in the crowd.

I met this American girl at Glasto who knew them. She introduced me via e-mail. So I was invited up to the house next to where they were recording their album. That day it was a 12 o clock kick off between Arsenal-Spurs(5-4 ha!). So I was fucking leathered when I turned up. We went to the club next to the garage(I think). I pissed off a transvestite bouncer and got thrown in the nick where Doherty was banged up(not at the same time). She didn`t seem to want to talk to me after that. Still think they`re good though and wish them good luck and all that. The Glasto girl isn`t talking to me either. Rock and roll man!
