Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

Ash missed their US tourmates The Bravery's set in Los Angeles, preferring to buy up merchandise from the latest Star Wars film instead.

The Beeb reports that the New Yorkers were somewhat taken aback by the Irish boys' love of Jedis, light sabres et al. Some guy from the band said this:

"The Ash guys, they're like over the top, to the point of being actually kind of terrifying. The day that all the new Star Wars toys came out he [bassist Mark Hamilton] missed us play because he took off after the show and ran to the Toys R Us. He spent about £3,000, it was insane."

Hmmm... spending three grand on plastic dolls or having to sit through 45 minutes-plus of The Bravery. Good call, boys.

its still a bit retarded in youre late 20s to be buying 'toys' from Star Wars - very fucking sad all told -love the films hadloads of Star wars figures - but WHEN I WAS 10-13 - not when i'm almost 30!

The Bravery are fucking shit anyway but Wheeler et al could have spent the time actually not re-writing '1977' over and over and over and over and over again

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

man... you have issues with Ash!

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

no but they have become totally formulaic over the last 5 years - you can't deny that!

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

Fair play to Ash, they've won more respect of me than I had for them before.

And although their latest stuff hasn't been great, they are still a great band in retrospect.

Well done boys, the Bravery lick balls.

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

you've become formulaic. band x is overrated. band y is boring. band z are crap.

yawn.

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

oh well I must be prime for a top media job then arf arf etc

sorry next time I will give the RIGHT answer to a thread like this - silly silly me what WAS I thinking?

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

doesn't matter what they were doing, point is they weren't watching the bravery.

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

maybe the star wars excuse was the best they could make up at the time when they were questioned by the bravery

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

The real important story is who stole charlotte and replaced her with a shirley manson lookalike for that photo?

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

Wow! How do the Bravery "lick balls?" I mean, they're not at all one of my all time favorites, but I like what they're trying to do musically.

As for Ash and their Star Wars addiction...

no comment.

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

They most certainly do "lick balls".

They lick hairy smelly old-man balls.

Crap live ,tosser frontman, awful keyboard "player".

Just generally turd.

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

yeh somethings gone a bit wrong there

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

I wouldn't like to speculate precisely what they do lick, but in general I've got to agree with that comment.

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

i'd rather buy star wars toys than watch the bravery. if they are on tour with them they must have already seen their set somewhere else

ash are shit anyway.

the bravery are alrightish

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

i think id rather have loads of star wars stuff than watch the bravery . . .

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

Bit of a strange tour.

Bit of a shit tour.

The Bravery are wank pie.
Ash are dull as a door knob. Wheeler with his heavy metal vests giving the satan signs thinking they are some sort of rock n roll outfit. they're about as rock n roll as my first shit. fuck off wheeler with your shitty band and go and buy some more toys you twentysomething saddo.

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

this post displays a strange preoccupation with faecal matter...

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

The Bravery are big poo, shit, cack, bum chocolate, fart heads riding on the current trend of the moment and looking and acting like absolute cunts. I. Hate. Them.

But as for Ash... you can't knock them coz they've never professed to be anything but a pop/rock band... and to be fair, one of the best British pop/rock bands in a long time.

As for their Star Wars obsession... it is a little sad yes. But, who the fuck would want to stick around for the Bravery? They sound crap on record, never mind live. I'd prefer to walk around Toys R Us too...

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

I agree with supervillain, Ash have gone a bit crap now but have some great songs and have never tried to be something that they are not. I'd LOVE to see Pancakes Seven right some songs of the quality of Girl From Mars.

thanks

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

I actually really rate Meltdown, one of my fave albums of last summer. Uncomplicated pop-rock, which as somebody has pointed out, Ash have never pretented not to be. Some good riffs too. I don't really care that Tim Wheeler can't sing for toffee either. Free all Angels, apart from the singles didn't really float my boat though.

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

Free All Angels is their best album*

*It's true, because I said so.

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

And for that you respect them, Idlewildman?
I do.

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

I went to Toys-R-Us too, instead of going to this show. Small world.

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

blah blah blah.. et al.
whee! i said "et al". +10 cool points.

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

Oh andsoitis! I worship your coolness!

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

The Bravery were bothered because Ash leaving to get star wars toys probably halved the audience.

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

The Bravery were lucky. I'd rather have no support than fucking Ash.

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

I thought they were all bankrupt almost before the last album. I'm beginning to see why. Forget drugs, kids' toys are really where the rock'n'roll lifestyle is going... :-/

Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

Michael Zacharin has got class.Great looking Jewish boy.

Don't you all wish you had been around in 1977.

Re: Bravery bothered by Ash's Star Wars addiction

To be honest, most people think it's pretty retarded to be running around watching bands in your late 20s. It's the kind of think you used to do when you were 17-21, but not when you're nearly 30! Surely it's about time everyone joined the adult world and bought no more than one album a year. Perhaps one by Morcheeba.

Fuck off, I'm in my mid 20s and I buy toys, I play video games and I chase bands around. It means not that I am childish, it means I'm not boring and don't really give a fuck what people consider to be a grown up way of spending my money.

And besides, my puppet Angel replica and Willow figures look teh aces on top of my monitor.

Oh, and you seem to have mistaken Ash being one of the few bands to come out of britpop to actually deliver any kind of consistantly good output for the last 10 years with them re-writing the same album, which they clearly haven't. Twat.
