Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Following on from the not-so-surprising two-hour sell out of Glastonbury this year, names for the event are now being confirmed, quasi confirmed and largely thrown about like confetti at a drunken wedding.

Yahoo today reported about 60 confirmed acts on the Pyramid, Other and John Peel stage. We thought we'd offer you something a bit more broken down.

please note that while we're pretty sure of this accuracy, we can not say that it's 100% confirmed or totally reliable, but it's pretty reliable...

This is what we reckon...

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

My God. They should name the Pyramid stage the Mondeo Man stage.

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Bright Eyes as well, Fuck Yeah!
I brought a ticket going for the 'atmosphere', ie, knowing that the lineup wouldn't rvial Reading or T, yet now i see this....

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Come on.. you gotta say that the Saturday Pyramid Stage looks pretty good....
xg

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

It looks like my worst nightmare :-S

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Sunday other stage - Brendan Benson, Soulwax, Cake, Futureheads, Bravery, Garbage.

Yummy.

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

I didn't think the Arcade Fire were playing? They're not on any of the lists I've seen. But still, looks prettyyy good.

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

am with Brainers only 45% am going to see old friends as well as seeing bands that have been pr'd up to their areholes as well as 'The Best Indie Album in the World EVER'

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

I hope all you guys have a great time. Glastonbury is very special and different to most music festivals. I'm sure it'll be amazing.

I still say the music policy is getting more conservative by the year - there are only four or five bands I would want to see on the top two stages, and many bands that are way past their prime and seem like a britpop hangover - so I guess Glastonbury isn't really the one for me musically any more. But there you go.

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

i will be most displeased if rufus and brian wilson are on at the same time - they're two of the few main acts that I want to see

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

im guessing garbage arent actually doing both stages on sunday :)

looks like a serviceable line-up to me... ill go one day but i dont know if i could ever be arsed with the ticket-buying effort for now. and its miiiiiiiles away.

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Re: Garbage

Sadly so.
I fear it's Butch Vig swinging his 'I WANT TO BE STEVE ALBINI' trojan penis around.
Stay well clear.

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

that bill looks pretty shitty.

i'd go out of my way to avoid 2 thirds of those bands.

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Arcade Fire are confirmed-ish?

Hmm..

They're not on the Glasto website.

Would be great if they are though.

Still, plenty to keep me occupied there I think.

w00t.

Ahem...

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

i'd just like to point out that if cake and the dresden dolls really are playing, you're all a big bunch of cocks.

those who got tickets that is. the rest of you are fine. carry on.

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

It all sucks balls if you ask me, but you didn't. ('cept for Cake and Soulwax)

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

...and bloc party and hot hot heat. Still not worth the ticket price, journey or phone bill though.

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Com on John, what about Hayseed Dixie? Not a fan??!!!!

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

I've got a Mondeo.

I haven't really.

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

its not a bad line up, just dissappointing. nothing relaly horrible, but not as inventive or as original it could be. no talent in depth beyond the mainstream. i still predict a great time cherry picking acts and then passing out in a ditch, but hardly a chance of touching the bright eyes/wilco/pj harvey/love/tindersticks
/spiritualized axis that defined my first day last year.

i knew it was far too easy to get tickets this year.

still, its not final. the headliners may suck, but there's still time for the bill to work out perfectly....

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Oh I like them alright but that as much as that up-and-coming hot young whippersnapper Fatboy Slim...

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

It is like totally NME lineup with a few of yer dad's old favourites mixed in. Gah.

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

A better line up than there has been for many a year. I couldn't get a bloody ticket though. Bugger. Hey ho I guess the TV coverage will have to do...

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

I saw a boy racered up Mondeo on saturday, and it was burgundy *shivers*. Needless to say, I cut them up in my little beast of an MG midget ;-)

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

I think the line-up is pretty good. Theres plenty of interesting stuff and more to confirm.

Just avoid things people like Fatboy Slim and Kylie

*shudders*

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

for me thats the weakest line up of the summer.

worst line up for years.

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

I am reliably informed that the LoveGods are playing LeftField at 8:00 pm on the Friday

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Elvis Costello, Interpol, Go! Team, Rufus Wainwright, Futureheads, Bright Eyes... Still a pretty tasty bill.

Was hoping for Ani DiFranco to be there though.

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

"things people"? Where did that "people" come from?

Well, from my stupid fingers obviously...

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

hmm regarding the john peel stage:
El Presidente- WHY?
The Subways- Two sets? (Pyramid aswell)

I wouldnt mind seeing the dears or engineers live, but not at a festival. same goes fer ycni:m and m83

beh i'm gonna make my own festival, with bands and hookers, in fact forget the bands

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

can't wait to see jack johnson, am surprised to see the subways on the pyramid though! tctc, interpol and bloc party will also be excellent!

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

That sunday pyramid line-up looks awfull!

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

she is. on the glastonbury site itself it says she's playing the acoustic tent.

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Doves before the Killers? WTF?

"I know, let's put a band with one hit-and-miss album's worth of material after a consistently spectacular band with three fantastic album's worth."

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Didn't I hear something on the radio about Chas & Dave playing this year?

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Very impressed with the New Bands (sorry, Peel stage) this year. Bright Eyes, Go! Team, M83, The Earlies, Secret Machines, Rilo Kiley etc.

Plus there's Roots Manuva, Squarepusher, Four Tet, 2 Many Dj's, Alabama 3, and Steve Earle all popping up on various stages. And you know Aphex will be there somewhere.

Besides, the best glasto band is one you've never heard of before the weekend.

Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

"Besides, the best glasto band is one you've never heard of before the weekend."

that always used to be the case, but that only works if they keep hiring interesting unknown new bands, rather than attaching their mouth to the nme's arse and lapping gently.

apologies for the metaphor, but the more i look at this bill, and the more i hear about U2 and clapton playing in 2007, the more i think i shall never go to glastonbury again.

primavera sound here i come : )

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

thats because all you can see are the other/pyramid stages (with some of the new bands, where the bill is unarguably good) most of my glasto moments have come away from the bigger stages.

With the notable exception of the Shibusashirazu orchestra a few years back playing at half ten on the friday morning on the pyramid. Anyone remember them? Fucking naked mentalist japanese costume jazz.

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

MONDEO Mk1 for sale 100,000+ miles. Interested? Meet me at the new bands stage for The Earlies (I'll need a lift home though with me bird).

Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....

Right, this needs serious clarification, does anyone know if the Arcade Fire are really playing? Getting orgasmically excited at the prospect of seeing them again (saw them at ULU. Best Live band. Eeeever. Possibly) and not sure whether my hopes should be at such a brain haemorrhage-inducing level as Eavis is still fannying about with the final line-up...
