Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....
I still say the music policy is getting more conservative by the year - there are only four or five bands I would want to see on the top two stages, and many bands that are way past their prime and seem like a britpop hangover - so I guess Glastonbury isn't really the one for me musically any more. But there you go.

looks like a serviceable line-up to me... ill go one day but i dont know if i could ever be arsed with the ticket-buying effort for now. and its miiiiiiiles away.
Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....
Sadly so.
I fear it's Butch Vig swinging his 'I WANT TO BE STEVE ALBINI' trojan penis around.
Stay well clear.

i'd go out of my way to avoid 2 thirds of those bands.

Hmm..
They're not on the Glasto website.
Would be great if they are though.
Still, plenty to keep me occupied there I think.

I haven't really.
Re: Glastonbury 2005 - bands, bands, bands....
its not a bad line up, just dissappointing. nothing relaly horrible, but not as inventive or as original it could be. no talent in depth beyond the mainstream. i still predict a great time cherry picking acts and then passing out in a ditch, but hardly a chance of touching the bright eyes/wilco/pj harvey/love/tindersticks
/spiritualized axis that defined my first day last year.
i knew it was far too easy to get tickets this year.
still, its not final. the headliners may suck, but there's still time for the bill to work out perfectly....

Plus there's Roots Manuva, Squarepusher, Four Tet, 2 Many Dj's, Alabama 3, and Steve Earle all popping up on various stages. And you know Aphex will be there somewhere.
Besides, the best glasto band is one you've never heard of before the weekend.

"Besides, the best glasto band is one you've never heard of before the weekend."
that always used to be the case, but that only works if they keep hiring interesting unknown new bands, rather than attaching their mouth to the nme's arse and lapping gently.
apologies for the metaphor, but the more i look at this bill, and the more i hear about U2 and clapton playing in 2007, the more i think i shall never go to glastonbury again.
primavera sound here i come : )

With the notable exception of the Shibusashirazu orchestra a few years back playing at half ten on the friday morning on the pyramid. Anyone remember them? Fucking naked mentalist japanese costume jazz.
