Send Guillemots sky-high

This is the most serious mission we've ever undertaken. Seriously.
DiS has, on many fronts, proclaimed Guillemots to be one of - if not the - breakthrough bands of the year. We're aware that many of you agree, at least on some fronts.
This week, the band's latest single 'Trains to Brazil' is released through Fantastic Plastic/Polydor and we've decided that we want it to hit the heady heights of the Top 5, so we're offering you a healthy exchange.
I, editor of Drowned in Sound, will shave all the hair on my body - including my world-famous beard - if you all go out and buy 'Trains to Brazil' and send it into the top 5 on Sunday. For an idea of how I currently look, go here. I'm scared, but we have to do this.
The shaving will occur live on stage at the Drowned in Sound 6th Birthday Party on October 10th.
So, go forth, buy the single - it's undoubtedly one of the best of the year anyway.

That's no beard ;)
I have fyfe's original demo cd at home including a 2002 version of 'Trains to Brazil'. My then band(including myself) disregarded it as to far away from what we wanted to do.
That's one decision I do quite regret.
yes, i have that too
and a demo of his other band that he was in with his brother.
Are we talking
eyebrow shaving too?
its got to be everything
or me no buy buy.
and if it only makes number 6?
what happens then?
i think it should be top 10.
hes just wimping out on us...
Do I have to buy
the single from our price, or does online count?
God I'm so ignorant
online counts
and i want it top five because this single should be in the fucking top five.
:D
you ROCK.
i'll buy it if
you promise to have the back, sack and crack wax.
they are ok
but trains to brazil is FUCKING BRILLIANT LIEK WHOAH
top chaps
top chaps these Guillemots - interviewed them at the Leeds Festival in August 2006, and they were highly engaging.
it's a deal
honestly.
live on stage,
sack back and crack.
Ok
Done
yay
beautiful!
i'm going to buy one
if for no other reason that it's a perfect pop song and - as said - it BELONGS in the top 5.
colin roberts
is from waterlooville.
hahahahahahahahhaha. i don't like it there.
Im going to download it off soulseek
then not listen to it.
I like Guillemots lots
but Trains to Brazil isn't that good really. And I don't care if you have body hair or not quite frankly.
Although it is a very admirable gesture. So good luck and shit.
i'm failing to understand this post
you like Gullemots but you DON'T like Trains to Brazil?
i'm more surprised
that he doesn't care about my body hair!
I PREFER JETS TO BRAZIL
Yeah. Totally emo.
I get bullied at school.
I was joking.
I just dont like guillemots that much. If I see it I might buy it because of some loyalty to DiS.
No. 43 is pretty amazing though.
I have a rather lovely acoustic version of this
If anybody doesn't have it and would like it, PM me...
...something SEXY
I'm rather confused
I followed the link to your picture but I can't actually see a beard anywhere!!??
A little bit of bumfluff perhaps.
guillemots
Its another bloody reissue and marketing hype !! i bought it first time round !!!The charts are fucking waste of space these days and everything is releeased to death by horrid major corporations !!Go and buy the from the cliffs import lp of thier 1st 2 eps !!!The lp is good they should have waited for 6 classic tracks and cut out the fillers !!- both 1st 2eps are classic !!Good band but already being bled to death by bastard record company!!
so
how do the charts stand then? In with a bullet at 43?
actua;;y
trains to brazil was never released as a chart-eligible single before, neither was made up love song.
they both featured as tracks on limited EPs.
from the cliffs does not feature everything.
it was the band's decision to do this, as well as the EP that is coming out later this year.
get your facts right.
welll....
when i saw them play earlier this year, and i'm sure lots of people will agree with me, i felt like i was watching 2 bands play at once. Because there are the catchy made-for-chart-success brilliant songs like trains to brazil, which are melodic, easy to follow and wonderfully constructed and i think this makes them perfect targets for the bastard record companies.....but then there's a whole other side to the guillemots which has less mass market appeal, the songs with all the weird sounds and the unpredictable introductions.... I hope they don't lose this in a struggle for popularity, because it sets them apart.
i think i made a little sense there.
not bad, guys..
they're at #36
Larrikin Love and Lost Prophets did better
never mind, all is not lost, they did beat- ahahaHAHAhaha- Get Cape Wear Cape Fly.
I got it
last time it came out
does that count?
Getting to 36, that upsets me
Who the fuck cares about the charts these days though? I only would if bands like Guillemots and Larrikin Love got in the top 10 every week.
