Mars' mute microsite...
It disturbs me slightly that they appear to have ripped off Funeral for a Friend's album art
Mars' mute microsite...
oh god, that really is quite distubing.
And it's designed by Storm Thorgerson (the MV cover), you'd think he'd know better than to rip off some silly Welsh emo band.
Actually, their artwork is pretty good for such a rubbish band...

Re: Mars' mute microsite...
Not happy enough ripping off Dali and Magritte?
Re: Mars' mute microsite...
Have to say I'm not convinced there's a reference, even vaguely :). Its a roughly similar car I suppose.
Re: Mars' mute microsite...
i dont mean that its deliberate
just that, if you havent seen it, you could say its "double nickels..." mixed with "casually dressed..."
thurguson did Dark Side of the Moon too didnt he?

OK I see what you mean.
And yes, he did dark side of the moon, and most other Pink Floyd stuff I think. Like those shitty stone heads. I can't say I like much of his stuff to be honest. He did Absolution by Muse, and Audioslave! I liked the Deloused artwork, though the Televators cover looks like somebody tried to do a budget Dali on photoshop.

I'm actually listening to this album now. Its sort of washing over me. I'm not convinced.

I have a feeling they might be an announced guest at the Camden Crawl. They're playing the UK all the dates around the 10th but not on the 10th, and there's an ad for the Crawl on www.themarsvolta.co.uk.
Fucking great if that's the case, what do you reckon?

That would be, and I quote:

Re: Mars' mute microsite...
yeh, he's done most of the floyd artwork i think...
Mars' mute microsite...
I fully and conclusively agree. A return of TMV to the Ballroom would be SO BLOODY INCREDIBLE... ahem. Since they were so great last time.
Oh by the way, Mr. D, I read your review of Frances the Mute from the new rock sound - nice work, it's really good.

Re: Mars' mute microsite...
is there an echo in here?
Re: Mars' mute microsite...
i havent read this thread but that looks very much like a red version of all of Funeral's cd covers based on some artwork which i dont know the name of..(anyone?)
Re: Mars' mute microsite...
Oh how I'd love that.
Nice detective work there.
Lets hope so.

Would the Volta have actually known about FFAF though? And would they have given a damn?
Mars' mute microsite...
I generally dislike Thorgerson's artwork. I liked 'Absolution' and most of the Mars Volta artwork, and maybe the odd-other thing, but most of his art tends to come off as too wanky and pretentious, or just bollocks (i.e. 'Audioslave').
Re: Mars' mute microsite...
A bit like their music then?
Nah, I'm kidding, TMV are great.

Re: Mars' mute microsite...
no, just people reading and responding to the threads that they are linked to from the automated update emails.
Mars' mute microsite...
Is anyone actually goes to the gigs, still waiting on tickets for Birmingham. Using seetickets.com, absolute bollocks.
Mars' mute microsite...
Got my tickets for Manc a few weeks ago.
The new video is pretty good. Morricone-tastic.
