In a not-too surprising announcement, Scissor Sisters will headline this year’s V Festival.
The group went down a mother-and-daughter storm last year, and they were hotly tipped to be making the three-wheeled pushchair crossover this year.
The band had the biggest selling album in the UK last year.
As ever, the V Festival is to be held over the weekend of Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August, and held at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and at Weston Park, Staffordshire.
More bands will be announced in the coming weeks, but expect the likes of New Order, Snow Patrol and Kaiser Chiefs to be turning up.

The Killers are playing again too...or so they told me.
Re: Take your hamper out: Scissor Sisters to headline
Somebody told me that too.
Re:
I heard it was gonna be Bowie. I might have actually had to go to this shitty festival then. So thank fuck he isn't, in a way!

Might aswell just watch it on the telly at home. The atmosphere would probably be better...

another reason to not go to V this year, not that the fact that i had my rubber tent mallet taken off me last time i went because it was an "offensive weapon" is reason enough. bastards.

well, you were hitting children with it at the time.
This sounds like the worst line up ever. How can an Elton John tribute band headline a festival?

They are a good live act and they may have had the biggest seeling album of last year but they are not headliners in my eyes.
Needs to be a bigger name really.

Am I being a killjoy...hmmm... I mean they're alright, and very nice and entertaining, but headliners for a major festival... they're about as boombastic as a re-repeat of Only Fools & Horses at Christmas... fun, and entertaining and stuff... but can't we have some more bands like Muse who want to shake our foundations? At Leeds last year it was notable how well Green Day and The Offspring gave good show, while the White Stripes were like three month old lettuce...
THe Hives should headline stuff.... it would be great, tho Pelle would have to play more and talk less.

So V2001 and V2003 were the same, now V2004 and V2005 are the same. What is the point?

V is the worst festival I've been to. Its been going downhill since it started, and desperately needs a bit more variety in its bills.
On the upside, the toilets are comparitively clean.

Pelle's talking is the best bit of the hives live. No way are Scissor sisters big or established enough to headline. New order would be fantastic on the other hand.
It is far too early to write it off as the worst lineup ever seeing as just one act has been announced though.

Indeed. Worst festival. I stood through a good hour of Dido to get near the front for Muse. Pure torture.
Re: Take your hamper out: Scissor Sisters to headline
would it suprise any of you that Maroon 5 are rumoured to be playing this year?

I'd like to see V actually pick some more imaginative names to be headlining. A friend of mine went last year from Surrey up to the one near Stafford (long way for him) and he said he had a good time but thought the music was shite.
Also I believe the Kaiser Chiefs are massively over rated. DiScuss anyone?

I can almost walk to and from V so that is my main excuse for having been every year but it is more and more Mr and Mrs Mondeo plus inflatable sofa and pushchair. People tut at you when you tread on their tartan rugs too. Thought isle of wight was good last year but just seen sunday's last 3 bands are embrace, snow patrol and REM, urgggh, with no 2nd stage or dance area would only bother with the 2 days.
I have heard Blur are playing after scissor sisters but not getting headlining billing, just like Dido and Muse were last year, I wonder if the Gallaghers had any say in that.
New Order, Kasabian and Joss Stone on too and Prodigy rumoured to be just before Oasis.

V needs alot more indie and rock acts. It's getting pretty fucking boring, with the Scissor Sisters. Compared to the other festival headliners, V look set to have the worse headliner of the entire festival season! But...If Oasis do get announced...Could well be worth going to. For a day.

Why should V have more than 1 credible act per day? If they have a Pixies/New Order size artist on then they get your money just because you go to see them.
The new little stage is good for more credible bands.
And the Scissor sisters at Weston was really funny. They were on the 2nd stage and the crowd stretched back to and past the toilets where in true V style revelers of both sexes were urinating against the fences because of the long queues.
And we got tutted at in Snow PAtrol for almost trampling a bunch of picknickers who were in the middle of the crowd next to the sound stage. Tossers.
