Sufjan plays Santa: singer to release festive set
- Artists:

Singer-what-releases-lots-of-stuff Sufjan Stevens - not that we want him to slow his production rate down, you understand - is to release a five-disc festive set this coming Christmas.
Songs For Christmas will be available from November 12. The songs across the five discs date from as long ago as 2001, and the package will include extra bits and bobs such as stickers and chord charts. It's play-along-at-home fun! Yeah.
The extensive tracklisting runs as follows. If you're reading this out to a work mate, we suggest you take as deep a breath as possible...

Artist’n’Artist: Gary Numan talks to John Foxx
he's actually
insane.
these have been online
for aaaaaaaages. good to see he's releasing them properly tho, they're really nice.
seconded.
and it's GREAT. those first three are unquestionably lovely and about a million times better than your standard christmas fare. 'i saw three ships' and 'once in royal david's city' especially.
what a great guy
is he still sporting that handle bar 'tache?
haha
nutter. He's gonna die of a heart attack in 2 years at this rate.
ahhh
destined to be played for years, and years and years......i might play one disc per christmas for the next 5....and then hide it away with Low christmas.....ahhh.....
's gotta be better
than the Radio Times Christmas Classics CD that my parents insist on assaulting my ears with every Christmas.
james brown's
funky christmas - 's all you need.
On a side note...
Does anyone know what state he's gonna do next?
I hope its Delaware.
i think it might be...
heres hoping one of the tracks is called
'hi! were in delaware'
read a Guardian interview
which suggested it was Oregon
i also heard
he was going to release a Rhode Island EP next
I heard he was going to
release one about England that sounded like the kinks....51st state and all....
swizz
it's a swizz. where's 'I wish it could be christmas everyday?"
Imagine how much this 'little' package is gonna cost? nothing Christmassy about that....
amazon.com
lists it as $21.99! So perhaps not as much as you might initially expect.
Whatever the price, I'll definitely be buying a copy. Or two.
Ooh, and new Sufjan Christmas song

It's amazing. Must be on my tenth listen in a row now or somet.
How
is he ever going to be able to write and record all fifty states if he keeps releasing this other stuff? Not that I'm complaining particularly, just curious.
me
too !
is he going
to die next year or something, then?
Clearly not, God willing,
but there are fifty states and he's recorded and released just two of them over a three year period. At that rate it would take another 72 years (i think) before he's actually completed the whole thing. Sorry to be so darn literal, but I think it warrants it.
lovely
lovely lovely lovely lovely lovely
i'm floating somewhere nice right now, certainly not a brown office in dirty old london town ...
Cheers
Thanks for that - lovely track. :)

Lovely stuff. Can't give it to anyone for christmas though, by the look of the front cover they're going to thin I made it myself.
Hang on, that might be a good idea.
thank god hes selling them now.
my internet-spreaded versions have been kicked out of my ipod because apparently there's something wrong with them.
i hate itunes and ipods with a passion now.
and doesnt it have a short story in it too?
i want to read it--cause his 'my mother, king tut' was pretty good?
uhh
i heard new jersey in some article?
he said hed prolly never do texas haha...
i dont really mind....
cause i liked the avalanche better than illinois.
if he never finishes...it doesnt really matter.
itll still be all good right?
