Scouse rockers of baggy-prog overtones The Coral have said that their fourth album is "sounding amazing".
The band are working on new songs at Noel gallagher's studio in Buckinghamshire. A post on the band's official online forum implies that all is going well.
“We have been very busy over the past few months writing and recording demos for our fourth album," says the message, from the band. “Things are going really well and the new songs are sounding amazing.”
Which is good news, no? Yes. Yes it is.

In The Morning
THE most summery pop song ever?
Yep
It's better than the Razorlight one anyway...
Meh
Unless the singles impress me, I won't be buying it. The last album was shit.
Secret Kiss= best Coral song.
ack
The last album certainly wasn't much cop. The first album is still one of my favourite albums of the 00's.
The Coral =
the most underrated and hardworking british act of this era. FACT! Go on boys, hope this album is a chart success. "UP IN MY LONELY ROOM (WHAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)"
They never did anything better than
Skeleton Key.
i
saw the coral live at dingwalls and they were very good. their album was not.
Indeed Indeed
The Coral really are one of the most underrated and undervalued British bands of recent times, and for some unknown reason - probably due to their geographical location - always get lumped in as a "lads" band a la Kasabian et al, which they most definitely are not.
i agree
The energy in that record is immense. Their later stuff (after the 1st album) is too mellow for my liking.
It's still good, mind.
their later stuff
is still great its just more subtle
I loved the first record
and saw them live before and just after it came out and they were really loud and almost punky. Then they went all mellow and I'm not sure I like it.
Skeleton Key is astonishingly good.
Magic and Medicine
was amazing as well. They just went shit after that. Shame cos they always struck me as one of those bands that would stay around producing quality music for decades.
One of lifes little mysteries ......
I really liked the Coral then just stopped listening to them. Dunno why ..... Although I did go and see them last year. Very enjoyable.
