Re: Manic Street Preachers tour
A friend of mine went to see them on the last tour, and the stadium was only a quarter full. That's why they're downsizing.

Not a good sign for the Manics is it. Still, they had the best part of a decade in the arenas...

And I'd imagine 'Lifeblood' didn't exact motivate people all that much to go and see them again.

um, it's blatantly more of a treat for the hardcore as opposed to an official declaration of their alledgedly waning appeal. the last album was a commercial flop, sure, but they can still fill arenas.
i'll be going, provided i have money in my acccount at 9am friday.

"they can still fill arenas"
Well, apparently they can't...hence the downsizing.

I like the idea of this tour as theyre not playing Manchester, Glasgow or Birmingham. They have remembered they have fans in other places. Good boys.
Re: Manic Street Preachers tour
well apparently they don't play 'Motown Junk' anymore.
i'd say that's why...in my head it is anyway...

Re: Manic Street Preachers tour
*sigh* are you retarded? they finished a successful arena tour LAST MONTH! THIS tour is a delierately low-key affair to showcase some fan favourites, (reportedly maybe even up to ten Holy Bible songs per gig) as opposed to the overt greatest hits affair bought out for an arena audience.
just because one guy's mate reckons an arena was quarter-full does not mean that they are 'downsizing'- as if such a thing meant fuck-all anyway.

the actual press release;
"All our knowledge – past, present and future – is nothing compared to what we will never know." (Tsiolkovsky)
2004 ended with the Manic Street Preachers sold out Arena tour receiving amazing reviews ... described as "Their best shows for a decade" by the NME and by the Times as "A communal celebration of the bands return to form". More dates have now been confirmed for April 2005 with the band returning to venues and cities they have not visited in almost 10 years.
They have promised to play a varied selection of songs from throughout their back catalogue, including tracks such as '4st 7lb', 'Archives of Pain' and 'Of Walking Abortion' from their third album 'The Holy Bible' which was released as a special 10th Anniversary edition at the end of 2004.
The band are hoping to unveil new material on the forthcoming tour, including tracks, which they are currently recording.
