They might've lost their bottle at Reading (or gained some, depending on how you look at it), but Las Vegas-spawned emo sorts Panic! At The Disco (pictured) won the gong for Video Of The Year at last night's MTV VMAs in New York.
'I Write Sins Not Tragedies' beat off (oh ha ha) competition from Madonna and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Elsewhere, Best Group Video went to* The All-American Rejects* for 'Move Along' and James Blunt scooped the Best Male Video award for 'You're Beautiful'.

Apparently the ceremony was a particularly boring one (well, look at the winners), with the 'highlight' being when rapper Mos Def was arrested for an impromptu performance of a song criticising the government's handling of the Hurricane Katrina clear-up.

Well apparently...
...there is considerable controversy in the ringtone scene about that very issue. Voices have been raised and temperaments poked. Some even threatened to boycott the event, and instead attend the rival, more artist-orientated "PHONEMINATION AWARDS" co-hosted by Schoolly D and Ian "Running Man" MacKaye.

I don't know how people can enjoy dissing bands that have won awards. It's completely stupid and you must have nothing better to do. The winners of these awards were chosen by their fans. If these award winners were chosen by people who had never heard of the band then they'd all probably be shitty songs nobody would remember in five years. If you hate these bands there's probably five times as many people who like them so just go screw yourself.
