Tipped Irish quintet The Chalets, Hot Press' ones to watch in 2005, are doing the rounds with Art Brut in February. Probably only right to say: Do Not Miss.

Hmm...according to promoters www.greenmind.tk The Chalets are playing Cambridge's Portland Arms on Feb 25 as part of a Drowned in Sound Tour.

What the hell is going on out there?

yeah. what is going on? Birmingham is the second city of England ffs, and Wolverhampton is one of the newest. They will get about 20 people in York, I lived there for a year, there is no notable music culture at all. I only saw pulp & the handsome family in the whole year i was there. crap, it was.

yorks much better now that fibbers has bcome a barfly venue. i used to work there when it was just starting out and gradually there have been more and more great bands stopping off there, whether on a barfly tour or not. when pulp played at the barbican i don't think fibbers was the barfly then, it was around 2002 i think.

but yes you're right york has no scene, but if good bands come they will fill up a venue. if a smaller, but brilliant band comes then you could be right, and there could be 20 people. but the music lovers are growing in number.

anyway i don't care now. i live in leeds! fucking A!
