Not so Idle-wild

when are tickets on sale ???

i can't wait ... finally another big show to look forward to here in newcastle ...

Re: Not so Idle-wild

AND it's when I'm back for the holidays. Result!

Not so Idle-wild

I reckon there's at last four dates I could potentially go to on there...

Has anyone heard the new record? what d'you think?

Not so Idle-wild

And who's that in the background of the photo? Was that one chosen for any reason?

Re: Not so Idle-wild

Yes. I think it blows.

Re: Not so Idle-wild

to make people go ... "yes i remember idlewild they were those wild falling over scotish types"

iv heard that the new record continues the slide towards coldplay/rem that quite a few bands from te late 90s are now following

Re: Not so Idle-wild

I was quite encouraged by the single. So much so I'd blanked the awful Falkirk live show from my mind; I have been looking forward to the new record. Is the single representative of what it's like?

Re: Not so Idle-wild

I find it difficult to tell whether i'm gonna like it for not. It could be good, or it could be I Never Wanted several times.

But I do like Coldplay's second album. And I like REM...

Re: Not so Idle-wild

It doesn't COMPLETELY suck. There are some good tunes, but you just kinda expect more from a band of their ilk. The single is mildly representative, yeah, but the slip to MOR is definitely visible.

Re: Not so Idle-wild

im still gonna buy it on the thought that idlewilds albums have always been very good "for what they are" ... so this one should be a very good piece of poprock ..and i do rather like the single

either way, im not gonna miss them playing 15min walk from my front door am i?

Re: Not so Idle-wild

It depends on which way you walk as to whether you miss them or not.

Not so Idle-wild

The single's title is absolutely classic bollocksy lyricism that they exhibit far too often. They can be musically good at times though.

Re: Not so Idle-wild

I just find it weird and a bit sad that a band i literally would have used to travel up the country for to watch like a coupla years ago, i now wont even bother to go to see in london. I just don't understand their motivation anymore, or what they're about.

Re: Not so Idle-wild

I saw the video for the new single this morning. The singer currently has the worst hair I've ever seen on a man...

Not so Idle-wild

Leeds Uni, my 18th Birthday woo!!!

Not so Idle-wild

ill send the ludes in a paper bag

Re: Not so Idle-wild

on Friday, i think, on general sale. dunno bout mailing list members

Re: Not so Idle-wild

i don't think it's any more MOR than Remote Part was, just MOR in a different way. Unfortunately, its sound is a bit nearer 100BW than RP from what I've heard. Hohum.

Re: Not so Idle-wild

Man! the falkirk show was amazin!!! i was right down the front and the atmosphere was immense! aside from the few jakey falkirk 'hard-men' it was quality. idlewild themselves were on fire!
cheerio

Not so Idle-wild

aw. i just... they don't get to me anymore. the thing about them that was really human doesn't seem to be there anymore.

xxx

Not so Idle-wild

They're not as good as they think they are. They were amazing and they let it slip away.

Not so Idle-wild

Saw them live for free once at.....(gasp)......Virgin Megastore in London promoting The Remote Part. Pretty sweet band, but I kinda like Coldplay, so even if they slip, I hope they slip in that direction.

I hope R.E.M. slip and break their necks. All of them.

Not so Idle-wild

I am off to see Idlewild on wednesday at Shaw Theatre. Must admit that they are heading depressingly down the REM route though. Doesn't Roddy Womble live in LA now?

Re: Not so Idle-wild

I thought they were just recording in LA. And he was still living in New York. Although he might have moved. Haven't seen him round Edinburgh in their time off.

Re: Not so Idle-wild

Yeah, that's the impression I got at that Falkirk show. Lost of kinf of edge. Might have been a one-off though...
The new single gets to me.

Re: Not so Idle-wild

Or maybe back in London.

I can't believe I'm discussing where Roddy Woomble lives. On a message board. With myself.

Not so Idle-wild

Idlewild sound bollocks all like Coldplay! Every band that calms down a little bit nowadays gets labelled as a Coldplay sound-a-like. Although I will admit...there were odd flashes of obvious R.E.M. worship of 'Remote Part'.

Not so Idle-wild

Support for wednesdays gig is Johnny Reeve and also Foxface, anyone know anything about them?

Not so Idle-wild

sorry Jenny Reeve

Not so Idle-wild

Jenny Reeve of Eva and Reindeer Section fame? Yes, she's tall with long red hair.

Not so Idle-wild

i've heard it, there's one amazing song on the album called 'I Want A Warning' the rest is sub-REM fodder, really is this what they've become, i was pretty disappointed to say the least.

Not so Idle-wild

I got tickets!!
