Goings On Across The Pond - Republicans ban music and Missy encourages voting
The extreme move comes from the attorney generals of each state, both of whom are Republican. Artists whose records you won't be able to borrow from your local Kansas/Indiana library include OutKast and Rage Against The Machine.
A spokesman for Kansas attorney general Phill Kane stated that they did not want to distribute materials that promoted violence or offensive behavior, which, of course, OutKast do. Sorry Ms Jackson, your kid's going home empty handed today...
Some 7,000 CDs have been withheld across the two states.
BUT GET THIS... heavyweight hip hop/R&B producer Babyface has rounded up a host of stars to appear on a pro-voting record! Guess he's siding with the Democrats. Missy Elliott, Brandy, Eve, Mary J Blige and Wyclef Jean are among the artists making an appearance on 'Wake Up Everybody'. The song will apparently empower young voters, no doubt pissed at the fact that they can't get 'Evil Empire' at their library.
The US Presidential elections take place in November.

Goings On Across The Pond - Republicans ban music and Missy encourages voting
Everyone should encourage people to vote for the Democrats, anything to get Bush and his hawks out of power...
and lets face it, doesn't Kerry play guitar or something? may not be any good at it, but at least he has a love for music... which has gotta be better than Bush's love for war hasn't it?
big up Babyface, Wyclef, Eve, Mary and the mighty Missy for speaking up!!!
Banning RATM and Outkast from the library should be made a criminal offence!!! along with being a republican!!!

It would also be interesting to know the full list of artists that have been banned.

o yes were the land of the free but um well we think that these are bad so um you cant listin to this o and this is bad for you so no no no u cant have it,
this dosent scare me half as much as what many of the things bushes patriot act enacted, they are allowed to tap our phone lines, imprisson us without a trial with a jury of our peers, and control what we read, i dont quite know how to express my feelings about this but i think i can sum it up by saying
YOU FUCKING PENIS LICKING BASTERDS, JUST FUCKING TRY TO BAN ME YOU DAMN MOTHER FUCKERES ILL KICK YOUR FUCKING HEADS INTO YOUR ASSES AND THEN HAVE WILD SEX WITH YOUR DAUGHTERS, HAHAHAHA, FUCK YOU GOVERNMENT FUCK U FUCK U FUCKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!Qufoio[qeVIOQWFE
Re: Goings On Across The Pond - Republicans ban music and Missy encourages voting
"The CDs included recordings by 25 musicians, including rap artists such as OutKast and Notorious B.I.G., rock bands Rage Against the Machine and Stone Temple Pilots, and even older acts such as Lou Reed and the 1980s experimental group Devo."
So it seems even more diverse than I originally thought!

2nd thing- i am niether a democrat nore a republican
3rd thing - i am to young to vote,
4th thing- there are three hundred people in the united states that were arested for making jokes about killing the presadent, none of them has had a trial and its been about 2 years, so i aint making no jokes about killing the presedent, i just wish he would die of natural causes very soon,
5th thing - kerry would not make a good presadent and is very uncarasmatic, playing guitar does not make you cool, just look at all the pop punk bands are they cool?
6th thing - a vote for Ralph is 2 votes for bush
7th thing- o shit america is just screwed, the people nees to rise up, not in a violent revolution but they need to take control of there own government, they need to form there own opinions insted of listing to what certin radio personalitys and news stations tell them, there are way to many people being liberal for the sake of being liberal and way to many people being conservative case they think thats what jesus wants,

On the upside, they've banned Outkast. The loss of RATM might just be worth it.

I've been campaigning for this ever since I borrowed Slint's Spiderland from Bridgend library!
Without an option, I went all the way to Oakwood, tried to chat up a member of staff and refused to get off Megaphobia until the evening. Shortly afterwards I stole a boat, sailed it in the middle of nowhere, killed the crew and then hung about on some house doorstep.
Turned out the CD was made of LSD.
