Kaiser Chiefs guitarist Whitey loves YouTube and the music of '88 - '92

There are are not a lot of people who'd tell you that 1988 - '92 was a crap time for music but for the same token not that many people who'd tell you it was an essential time for music.

We asked Kaiser Chiefs enigma of a guitarist Whitey what he would like to contribute to the takeover and got no response. We asked him what he loved and the response we got back was this no nonsense collection of YouTubes for you to click through and a mix-tape tracklist...

The email concluded with this little mixtape:

Whitey's top ten tracks from '88-92: This is when music was music

  • Chapterhouse - Pearl
  • Ride - Dreams Burn Down
  • Smashing Pumpkins - Rhinoceros
  • Wedding Present - Suck
  • Catherine Wheel - Black Mettallic
  • Sugarcubes - Hit
  • Dinosaur Jr - No Bones
  • Sonic Youth - Orange Rolls, Angel's Spit
  • LFO - LFO
  • Teenage Fanclub - The Concept

Elllllll Efffffffffffffff Ohhhhhhhhh!

rodney mullen

is a god

good stuff indeed

and by the by this is surely final evidence that Ride's Dreams Burn Down must be the DiS nostalgia single of the week, being mentioned by Rue_the_day x 2, Anthony M83 & Whitney KC in successive threads.

QED

* Whitey

(I can't get Johnny Whitney off my mind)

i always thought...

88-92 was the best era for music, killed off by Nirvana and then Oasis. As soon as the record companies smell money they destroy things.

Surprisingly good selection of tunes, I thought the Kaisers would have been Britpop fans.

how can someone with such good taste

make such mediocre music?
