So by now you'll probably have heard 'Bruises'. It's on an Apple advert, and, after The Ting Tings, you're possibly a bit sceptical based on that fact. Don't be: they've chosen well this time. Chairlift are great, and so is their LP, Does You Inspire You, out over here on October 27. The New York trio make pop of the most beautiful, ethereal kind - think Kate Bush, Bjork or The Cocteau Twins, perhaps. Think special, certainly.
A few cursory listens and you'll think they've only got a handful of tunes: 'Planet Health' (one of the year's best tunes, wethinks), the aforementioned apple of Apple's ear, and 'Evident Utensil' are the most immediate trio for sure. But listen more, because there's plenty on offer beneath that sugary pop surface. And in vocalist Caroline Polachek they've got a genuine voice. See for yourself when they tour over here in November (dates to follow), but for now check out the video for 'Planet Health' - and let us know what you reckon to NY's latest...

Actually, koko would be better, I'll pay the extra seven bucks

Brilliant band
Can't wait for the Nottingham show.
I wouldn't have said that I disliked them
they just don't move me at all.
It's quite hollow.
could
this be something to do with the annoying fucking advert at the top of dis? whores.
damn it
rumbled...
Understandable. Wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of the Apple mafia
I like the above song muchly. Am skeptical the balance of material will hold up, but I shall investigate as the opportunity arises.

Love it,
and the album's on I tunes now.

Don't get it
T'Pau are back, but they forgot to bring the tunes...
well I'm hooked on Bruises
as usual with most Apple ads, and was all waiting to fall in love with them after reading the article, but that song was just.. blergh. I think I almost fell asleep listening to it (although that could have something to do with it being 4:14am)
Think I'll give this "NY's latest" a miss.
