New DiS gig nite on Wednesdays in south London!
HELLO. WHAT'S THIS THEN?
www.drownedinsound.com presents a new gig night at The Windmill, Brixton, where we shall hog every other Wednesday to bring you some bands who really "do" it for us right now.
The location: The Windmill can be found on Blenheim Gardens, off Brixton Hill, about a 10-minute walk from Brixton tube station (cross over the road out of the station, walk left up Brixton Hill for a while and Blenheim Gardens is on the right. If you're lazy, there are plenty of busses). There's a map here
The cost: 2 Earth Pounds
The time: 8pm till whenever
The date: 19 JUNE
The bands: Breschnev, Engerica, After Suburbia
BRESCHNEV
Making their first venture to the capital and probably bringing a busload of their pissed mates with them, this Perth collective "wooed the crowds" at T in the Park last year with their sprawling, Beta Band-cum-Spiritualized beats'n'samples'n'drones. First track on their demo (pre-Sep 11, unfortunately named 'Arms For Afghanistan') is 14-minutes long. RESPECT. Politically-charged rantings and manifestos at www.breschnev.com. If we'd thought this through, we'd have put them on a bill with Meanwhile Back In Communist Russia. Ah well.
ONSTAGE: 10.15pm
ENGERICA
Three young scuzzrock, savage manic Essex boys soon to be recording with Sam Williams (who produced that wonderful first Supergrass album), receiving much label interest at the moment including EMI in New York, and have one of the most mispronounced band names in the business. They played the DiS gig at the Barfly with Crackout and Miss Black America, lest you forget. Come and watch them spit'n'strut again. Fame is inevitable. www.engerica.com
ONSTAGE: 9.30pm
AFTER SUBURBIA
Formerly Inimenter, much loved by the metal press and having fans in Pitchshifter, The Prodigy, and One Minute Silence among others. 2002 has seen them change their name and change direction, after the departure of their drummer in December. He is now replaced by Max from Nojahoda. We feel this a very suitable rawwwghkkk! opener for our first DiS-South gig. MP3s and past press clippings and so on at www.aftersuburbia.com
ONSTAGE: 8.45pm
More info via adie@drownedinsound.com
Forthcoming attractions in the next couple of months are likely to include The Lymes, The Needles, Josephine, Venetian Love Triangle, Contra, The Dopamine Theory, I Own Kings, Thoria, Mary, MBICR…

Re: oooooohhhhhh
sean? hmmm sounds more like a sufferkiss band member to me. smells a bit like martyn... it's someone i know, anyway - they are all very me-ish bands.
Redeye Jedi are wonderful. They just won the Rock City battle of the bands thing, so I'm expecting a new CD of their's soonish after their prize of 2 days recording time. I also reviewed them not too long ago, although they've gained a keyboardist and new drummer since then so... Definately one to include in your list of bands for supports.
Antihero are on tour at the mo - thus they're not replying e-mails very much. I haven't seen Pete online anyway.
Oceansize would be... wonderful :):)
