So, when the big wig festival organizers asked if we wanted a stage this summer in Hyde Park, and all we had to do was suggest who we wanted to play, we nibbled their arms'n'legs off to get our own tent.
We've got some great (new) acts playing. We've got our sun cream packed and sun glasses on ice. It's all kicking off tomorrow in London's Hyde Park, it's called Wireless, you hopefully now feel patronised so here's the full line-up with stage times and our recommendations in bold...

Tegan And Sara are playing? Hmm, they were very good supporting Weezer. Some of it sounded like MBV, other parts like Bright Eyes, all very good stuff. Uplifting pop music.

they've got a few catchy songs but at the 100 club the other night they were very meh.

komakino used to sound a lot like interpol/joy division, but the new single's sort of libertines-y. so i don't know what to tell you.

BOXER REBELLION = radiohead + cooper temple clause, singer has incredible voice
KOMAKINO = early idlewild, circa 'hope is important'

That's made the festival slightly more bareable, i guess. Though it's a bit of a shame seeing JJ72 on that stage when they would've been much higher a few years ago.

I always thought The Boxer Rebellion sounded like a shoegazer band with Liam Gallagher singing. Having rarely heard any recorded material, I could be very very wrong. Live that's how they came across though.

Sounds pretty good but how come some of those bands are in bold and some arent. Is that because you are happy to be associated with some of the bands and your not with the others?

In bold are bands that have a 'special relationship' with the DiS entity, i think. I know a few of them (martha, komaniko, battle etc etc) are signed to the DiS label?!?

But...so there's bands on the Drowned In Sound stage that Drowned In Sound do not particularly recommend??!? Who chose the others, were they Clear Channel "recommendations"? Why on earth don't The Roger [sic] Sisters get recommended?

Sorry, been at glasto and there are several thousand new posts since friday.
Basically we put our name to the stage and there were a few things we hadn't even heard that were confirmed already. And various political reasons why stuff ends up on the stage. Blah.
