Dogs Die In Hot Cars

Edit this event

Is it a good name? Well at least you won’t forget it in a hurry. So exactly how hot would the car have to be… mmm… yes – they’ve started! When you’ve got a collection of endlessly enjoyable pop hooks under your belt and you’re playing to a rapturously responsive sold out 100 Club, frankly I couldn’t give a fk what your band’s called. Currently in the middle of a rotating headline tour with The Zutons, **Dogs Die in Hot Cars blend of chopped down '80s pop rock and grooving piano fuelled fun is refreshing, exciting and very much their own. New songs are spattered throughout the set, each building upon the rhythmic prowess already established by mini classics such as ‘Chinese Girl’ and ‘Paul Newman's Eyes’. Current single ‘Man Bites Man’ has a raucous zest disappointingly absent from the record, and ‘I Love you Cause I Have To’ is equally zinging with energetic pace and power.

Although the set seems to dip slightly in the middle, this minor lapse of concentration is quickly rectified as they save the best for last (gravy advert reference omitted). ‘Lounger’ is driven along with perfect chattering guitars, punctuated by a slick piano line, and topped with a quirky, harmony-laden melody. It is, quite simply, brilliant. Also, it is worth adding that during this set closer and in fact throughout the entire gig, Ruth Quigly on the keys is so fantastically crazy, it’s surprising she’s got the energy to play the piano, let alone pick up the French Horn. Tonight DDIHC are boistoruously memorable - watch your backs, Franz Ferdinand.

Dogs Die In Hot Cars

i dunno, i promote at a venue in canterbury and we had them a couple of months ago. they were really nice guys but they reminded me too much of cast and the proclaimers

Re: Dogs Die In Hot Cars

And they are craaaaaaaap!

Re: Dogs Die In Hot Cars

They are a little duff. That said, the French horn is a notoriously difficult instrument to master, so hats of to them!

Dogs Die In Hot Cars

I heard their XFM live session on Saturday. They sounded dreadful. Twee lyrics and badly-played guitar pop.

Re: Dogs Die In Hot Cars

I saw them last night Live, at the Princess Charlotte, Leicester. and they were great. catchy guitars and lyrics. I think those radio sessions can sound really crap.

Re: Dogs Die In Hot Cars

well their Lamacq live session sounded ace.

Re: Dogs Die In Hot Cars

Im not their biggest fan; but the Lamacq session did sound really good.
