Hello Sunshine...
?s'been a while, I admit, but it's always good to see you. Although it's hard after such an intense period of friendship, y'know, where, for a period of time, it's all that seems to matter. And then, well, you drift a bit don't you? Perhaps it's over-familiarity, maybe it's starting to look around... see what else there is. Maybe there comes a time, when a friendship like ours runs its course.
But I'm back; just dropping in to say hello, really. Check up on things. See if you're okay. And it's good to see that you're doing pretty well. In fact, not much has changed, has it? You've still got that hardcore group of friends; your own little crowd that's in turns maddening and cool, clique-y and friendly. Maybe that's because you haven't changed; you're still ploughing your furrow, and evidently, it's paying off; I mean, there's certainly no signs of slacking, although you seem like you've hit a bit of a plateau. Is there much prospect for progression? You've done so much already, it baffles me to try and work out what else you could do to widen your group of friends. But I guess you're happy with your lot; and why ever not? I mean, you've done well. You don't seem to have made many enemies, and everyone I know at least respects you, which is something you can never dismiss. Because then they'll never dump on you.
So, it's back in the same old place, doing the same old things. Me? Well, I've been around the block a bit, met a few interesting people, widened my view of things. And it's been a good chance for me to have a think and work a few things out. I mean, I do still really really like you, and I can see why that initial rush of bonding was there, and why we stuck together so long, but there's so much that I want to do and see, and while that doesn't mean cutting you out of my life, it does mean that we're going to have to make this a less regular thing. But like I said, you've got enough friends anyway. And, I hope you don't take this the wrong way - like I take you for granted, but I know you'll always be there; you're dependable. You'll stick around, and it's always cool to visit. We can talk about good times (and there really was some stonkers), though maybe we'll gloss over the last couple of years - not incredibly spectacular, though not at all shoddy - and relive it all over again.
And that's kinda that. It was a good evening, fun, and certainly good catching up. See you soon, yeah?

Wow. You really think they’ve hit that plateau? Progression? Every album’s been a progression. Certain reviews made Phantom Power out to be a step backwards after the pomp and decidedly overblown nature of Rings Around The World (their worst album for my money) but the level of methods of incorporating the masses of instrumentation changed. Listen to The Undefeated, the layers in that track are awesome. You sound somewhat disappointed by their oeuvre over the last two years.
