Dogs Die In Hot Cars

They sound like they’ve swallowed the entire Postcard Records back-catalogue, and have a vocalist who sounds like a cross between Robert Smith, Billy Mackenzie and Kevin Rowland. If that doesn’t sound appealing, then you may as well go and read something else now.

I never ‘got’ Dogs Die In Hot Cars at first. The uber-tweeness and jangle pop showcased on their demo made me frown. But now they’ve got me hooked, oh yes indeed. I think it’s when I realised they were The New Aztec Camera or some such sinister nonsense. Yes kids, we’re going back to the land of ‘80s Scottish schmindie music. Hurray!

No, really – hurray! Dogs Die are the antidote to your overdosed-on-emo needs. Playing their short set in this strange little venue, it’s almost perfect. Potential pop hits galore, with a glint in their eyes and smiles on their faces. Job done. The debut single, ‘I Love You Cos I Have To’, has a ska beat and isn’t that representative of what they do, but you’ll get the general idea.

I’m glad they turned out good, as it would’ve been a shame to waste such a great band name.
